      Using Music To Induce Lucidity

      Hey everyone,

I just thought of an idea to possibly induce lucidity. I have never done it myself nor tried it - but others might and I would like to share it in case others find success with it.

It involves choosing a song/piece of music that you REALLY like - your favourite, the one that holds a special meaning to you. Set it on a playlist or shuffle (iTunes can do this) so it plays roughly 5 - 6 hours after you sleep - when you are dreaming. Go to sleep with MILD - a mantra like "I will remember I am dreaming when I hear *song*".

Any thoughts/suggestions. I'll give it a go tonight and see it works.

I've tried using Mozart to induce LDs. I did it one or two times but the dreams were very short.

The radio station I listen to plays Mozart every couple of hours of so so I figured it'd be a good way to induce a LD. I've slacked on the reality checks lately though. I'll have to pick up on that again.

Good idea, only whenever I'm able to hear something from the real world when I'm sleeping, I wake up. And you'd have to program it to stop after a few seconds, otherwise chances are that you will wake up....
But I believe there is something to do with this.

The odd thing about the Mozart Induced dreams, as soon as I was sure I was dreaming the music cut out. Just stopped.

Similar happened to me when I had a lucid dream from hearing a little kid's voice when i was on the verge of dreaming. As soon as I realized... Hey, there's no little kids here, I must be dreaming... the voice stopped and the dream continued.

Then again, I also had a lucid dream one morning where I heard a piece of music that had a varying volume throughout the dream.

Maybe outside LD trigger gets shut out as soon as you become lucid, depending on the strength of lucidity.

I gave it a go - unfortunately the other music woke me up before hand and in my half-angry sleep state I turned it off.

That is a good point krookedking, regarding awakening. I'm not sure for me if it would stop or not like it does for Vex, but if not, you'd want it to end pretty quickly.

      Eitherway - just an idea.
