past 10 minutes - reality test?

I've been using a RT lately that's really been working well for me. It's unclear if anyone has previously made this suggestion. I'm pretty well read on LDing but can't recall anyone else proposing this specific method?

I use reality tests when I think I'm dreaming and I want confirmation. This technique could of course be used during the day to encourage execution of this RT in your dreamspace prior to lucidity as well.

Simply ask yourself "what have I been doing for the last 10 minutes?". If you can't recall a damn thing, or if the sequence of events doesn't make sense, you're dreaming!

This works great within your dreams for confirmation, because you're not relying on any external stimuli. For example, looking at a digitial clock for reasonableness works well, but you still need to clock in your dream to execute the RT.

I think this would work well for periodic reflections through the day as well. People complain that their RT's become somewhat robotic. This RT forces you to reflect and do some real critical thinking. Using the clock example, yeah - it's easy to glance over and say "that seems reasonable". But very little real reflection went into that conclusion.

Anyway, this RT helped me to achieve my first full fledged flying experience sunday morning. That was an A+ experience - I'll be back for more with renewed confidence in my flying abilities.

      Enjoy

The key to this reality check is that you say it forces you to reflect and do some real critical thinking!

This sounds really promising.. I don't know how well my critical thinking works when I dream (I might just make up some stuff) but this is definately worth trying out.

      Thanks so much for sharing!!

I agree. This sounds like a very interesting technique. I'll have to give it a try.

i have read a similar technique on another ld website, it says to think back on what u have been doing throughout the day but i don't use that technique so i wouldn't know if it is any good.

That's my main RC. I think backwards through what I have done that day, if I'm still in doubt I do the nose holding RC.

Hi, I did think of a similar method to what Ur using. That is to recall when the last RC was done so it's like a habit to keep asking if U have done an RC and how and where at which point...at the toilet?the kitchen? If U can't remember those even just one of them....DO one NOW!..LOL...
