      nothing works!!!!!!!!!!

I have been trying to lucid dream for a while now and nothing works? I used mugwort tea---nothing, I used Galantamine tabs with Choline with a supplement on the side of B5---nothing, I used B6--nothing, Subliminal CD---nothing, not even vivid dreams. I have ADD so I am unable to concentrate for long to use any good method. I used reality checks as well, looking at hands constantly, etc. I suffer from depression and this is a terrible blow for me as I reality wanted to do this for therapy reasons. Oh, well, I should have known this is the way it would be.

I have ADD and have been having lucids for years, so that's not really a stumbling block. I don't use any of the herbs or vitamins you mention, nor any subliminal techniques.

Are you keeping a dream journal? And how long have you been trying?

I have tried that as well. I have decent dream recall for the most part, jsut not very vivid and not lucid. Damn, I am useless, even in my dreams.

Well that attitude right there is what *I* think is holding you back from becoming Lucid. If you think your worthless and that it will never happen then your tricking your brain into really thinking it will never happen.

Instead spen all day thinking about how your going to become lucid that night. Consistently do reality checks and tell yourself that you will do this in your dream and you know your dreaming. But you have to really try and Believe that it's going to work and that your going to have fun.

A big part of LD'ing is about attitude and will power. If you keep that negative view on it, nothing will work.
Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

To deny may be just as dangerous and misleading as to accept.

Honestly I have. On day's that I felt good I would do exactly what you said and still nothing happens. I even tried the confidence method to no avail several times. Oh well. Sorry to bother you guys, and I appreciate your responses.

All of these things that you have been using, they seem like 'shortcut' methods, requiring little actual work. Have you tried MILD? If you have not, I recommend you do.

well thats the problem right there! you cant just do reality checks one day and expect everything to work out that night. You need to do them everyday! even when you feel like crap, or are busy at work, or having fun hanging out with your friends. You need to do reality checks and keep a dream journal every day! It might take awhile to see the effects of all that work, it could even take weeks, but when you do have that lucid dream, its going to be worth it! and they will start coming more frequently after. The first LD is always the hardest! good luck

You still have not told us how long you have been trying. It typically takes some time before any success is had at all.

thank you, but I do reality checks everyday, just not much of anything else. You are right , I will try harder. One of my biggest problems is I tend to lose interest in things rather fast and I hope I stay with this. The few that I have had were pretty cool, but the one I had a month and half ago was awesome. I was standing by my old house and things looked so clear, it was as if I was at the highest level of Lucidity as I would look at the grass and be amazed at how clear and green it was. everything arouhd me looked so real but when I tried to do anythign (fly, change things) I was not able to . This is what go me back into LDing and Iwant that again. I had two brief ones after that that were not very clear and only moderatly lucid.

Well you seem to have a negative attitude which could be affecting it not that you are a negative person just you have a negative outlook on your success. The other thing is that perhaps you are putting on a false outlook that you think is positive, "I am going to have a lucid tonight", but you do not really believe that in the back of your mind you still have doubt.

Perhaps you should take a break on trying for a week and then go back to it, who knows during the break you may have a lucid.

^^ I did this, and two days ago had my first start-to-finish lucid dream. Completely out of the blue, I woke up, started reading (harry potter 7), and all of a sudden got a ridiculous urge to sleep. I put down the book, took of my glasses, and immediately, as I put my head down, sound distortions came. I knew instantly I was going into a dream, and had an amazing LD.

at first I thought you weren't able to have a lucid dream, like you've never had any, but you have man! you should be excited that you even can! some people cant and I really feel bad for them.

you shouldn't worry about it so much, I find lucid dreams come randomly for me. dream journals definitely help though. with dream recall and everything. Since you lose interest in things quickly you might even stop trying and be surprised when you have one. this actually happens to me a lot, and always makes me come back here looking for more ideas.

one thing you have to remember when you want to do things in your dreams is really believe you can do anything. also I find trying to do things , like making effort, makes it harder. Think of it like Yoda said "Do or do not, there is no try". if you try hard, you probably wont be able to because you dont really know or trust that you can, but you just have to be calm and let yourself go.

sorry for this being so long

Hey, at least you haven't been trying for a year with little results.

There should be a club for us members that can't seem to get a proper lucid dream. Eventually, people would probably leave the club because they finally get a lucid dream, leaving the rest of us there.

I am a strong believer in the fact that lucid dreaming is on the most part about confidence. If you can find a way to convince yourself that you are a master lucid dreamer, even if you never have lucid dreams, 1 will appear sooner or later, and once you know what it's like most probably some more will follow it

I doubt it, things have a way of never working for me, and that is not just an attitude, it's from experience, even when I feel good about it. Sometimes I wonder if I am cursed. It seems whenever I get into something I am always one of the few that never get good at it.

Sometimes it takes a long time, but that doesn't mean it can never happen. Here's a long-awaited-success story: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=40590

LaBerge even mentioned for some people, just forgetting about it can cause it to happen. I knew someone who tried for months, and finally lost interest in the subject. Suddenly out of the blue one night he had a full blown OBE (meaning a very, very vivid LD). Your subconscious will remember; just allow it to do the work for you, because you are defeating yourself with every thought that says "I can't".

thank you, I will keep that in mind. I guess one of the reasons I want to LD so much is that I often feel I have very little control over my life and it is often very stressful and I just want an enviorment where I can let myself go.

Take a vacation, and just meditate, relax, and sleep all the time.

Edit: Not a joke, this would actually be beneficial, IMO, even without lucidity.

I haven't read the full thread meticuously, but I'm not convinced you're laying the groundwork. What's your dream recall? Do you keep a dream journal? Both of these are important for getting more in touch w/ your dreamspace.

If you want the easist possible short-cut, buy a RemDreamer device. It's about $170 US. Google it.
