How does it matter? It still feels real. It's still super fun. Apart from that, it's only the present moment that you can experience, so you could feel quite the same about waking reality. Also LDs can have a profound influence on your waking life.
I rather think that when you wake up after a cool normal dream, you tend to think "Damn, t'was only a dream". You never realized until you woke up so it takes all the fun out of the dream because while you were dreaming you actually thought it's real. Your happiness in the dream depended on your belief that it's completely real. But if you go lucid while you're dreaming you actually know that it's only a dream so you can enjoy the dream to the fullest and often you'll wake up with a feeling of deep happiness. Your measure of happiness will then be reshifted with being lucid.
