      a SSTLD technique???

Sorry for the "not-so-finely-bad" english here...

According to you, in order to train ourselves for LDing, do it may have such things as "Subconscious' skills training for LDing" ???

It is a weird idea I had in order to spot lucidity weakness in my mind and solve them. It may sounds very weird, deviant or impossible, then I want your personnal opinion from your priviledge relation with your subconscious mind (LDing).

I trained myself for Ericksonian self-hypnosis since a little more than a year, and since I still yet a very loosy self-hypnotist, at least I developped a strong intuition and the ability to talk with my subconscious.

My main problem is that, since I wanted to do LDing, my subconscious wanted to do everything himself in order to train myself to induce LDs, with very poor results. Then I said "Enough! Now let's think about acquiring the right skills!"

I made a list of the subconsious' and conscious' skills I may need to succesfully acquire to become lucid in dreams:

      Subconscious skills:
-subconscious control of the content of a dream
-subconscious control of the sleep states
-Facility to induce at will different conscious states
-Ability to creatively and efficiently solve problems
-Sense of images and hungriness for authentics visual details
      -Good knowledge of myself

      Conscious skills
      -Good dream recall
-good sense of critic and logic
      -good intuition

Honestly, what is your feeling about this???

I agree with all of your conscious skills.

The only thing you REALLY need as far as subconscious skill is the ability and willingness to recognize when you are dreaming. The whole idea of Lucid Dreaming is to become conscious - so you don't NEED subconscious control or any of that. All you need is to remember to do a reality check. The rest is all conscious.

I studied Ericksonian Hypnosis some years ago as well, and we have a couple people around here who seem to be pretty adept at it. Hopefully they'll chime in.

I wish you the best of luck! Please keep us posted on your progress and any discoveries you make along the way.

      Hey there,

Honestly, I think you're dividing the consciousness and subconsciousness too much. Remember that they are not two seperate things. The consciousness is PART of the subconsciousness, it doesn't stand alone.

Basically, the conscious part of us is the part that symbolises, orders and structures the world around us, in order to enable us to affect more control about our surroundings and our own actions. So in a very real way, the consciousness it about guidance and giving direction to the subconscious impulses.

So in your list, ALL of its skills would be partly subconscious (just like absolutely everything we do is partly subconscious), and additionally any skill that has a guiding, knowledge or controlling aspect to it would have a conscious element as well.

In more practical and concrete terms though, I think the skills you want to work on are those which focus on what the consciousness does, things like:

      - become more aware of your dreams and its elements

      - learning how to structure and symbolise your dreams, or how to put them into words and writing (which are our primary structuring and symbolising tools)

      - become aware of the various subconscious impulses that work against you taking control (the things that you don't really want to know or that you deny, to put it in simplistic terms)

These skills, rather then specific techniques, should result in an OVERALL increase in awareness and lucidity in your dreams. Combine this with the various techniques, and you'll be having plenty of lucid dreams.

      Anyways, that's just my opinion

Nice! It sounds right. I'll try to make something like that. Now I have only to think about a mean of improvement. I guess that continuing to improve self-hypnosis will help a lot.

In an other side, what I'm trying to think about is a way for the subconscious to help me induce LDs. That's why I'm considering improve some inconscious dream control skills to make the subconscious induce LDs at will. I'll ask him what he think about that...
