I use both of the above methods (plugging my nose second and from the inside, not with my fingers). Finally I finish by checking where I am, and decide if I am likely to be there while awake. For example I do this so often that if I ever find myself in an office building I will know that I am dreaming; this usually leads to remembrance to do a reality check.

I can LD whenever I want. I find that the deliberate mention of "I am going to dream of..." repeated three times out loud, and once again inside your mind helps a lot. I also use a technique of seeing a ball of fire in front of me, and moving inside that ball of fire. I just then sit there and clear my mind until I fall asleep. I also use Kalms (45mg Hops Powder, 135mg Valerian, 90mg Gentian) and take three of these before I go to bed. Have also been experimenting with TicTacs lately. Mixed results, but when they work, I get incredibly strange lucids.

      Hope this helps!
