      I've lost it

Hey, I used to be a HUGE lucid dreamer, i'm talking 3-4 a night. Most of mine were nightmare-induced, but many just happened. My dream recall was also perfect.

Well a couple years ago, that changed and now i don't have hardly any dream recall. I've had maybe 2 lucid dreams in the past few months, thats it. If i'm lucky i can remember 1 dream a night, and even thats rare. So anyway, how am i gonna get my recall back? I tried many things on the site, and i still believe i can do it, yet it doesn't happen.. Someone wanna give a few pointers?

      First, Welcome !

Second. I'm so sorry, that must really suck!

What has changed in your life in the past few years? Big changes, small changes?

Any medication you are now on or anything?

no really big changes, i don't have to much stress now. If anything i have less. The big difference is, i have no nightmares to trigger a LD, and that was my choice method. And i had such a vivid dream recall.. i can remember most of the dreams i had from years ago.

A few days ago i think i had an accidental wild. Heres how it went, i was layin down and i just woke up, i fell back asleep and felt i was going into a dream. I was paralysed and all i saw was white light, now this made me nervous.. but i said its ok, and instead of going into a dream, i fell asleep.

I noticed that i tend to sleep alot more then i used to, which is weird, i'm not on any medication or anything, i just like sleep, and i'm a HEAVY sleeper. Hardly anything wakes me up, but i've always been like that.

Any suggestions? Maybe i just sleep to deep to LD, caffeine might work?

Have you tried setting your alarm clock to wake you at regular intervals? I'm guessing that you have.

Stress does seem to help me as well. I dream like crazy when I am under stress.

Let me think on this one for a little while.

      Anyone else have an idea?

Have you started smoking? Smoking can cause snoring, which would effect your ability to have dreams at all.

How old are you? Sometimes puberty can effect your sleep patterns.

If you are under less stress, then you're probably not going to have nightmares as much.

You could try B6 or Melatonin to help with your sleep patterns:

the strangest thing is.. my dream recall came to an abrupt stop a few years ago when i moved.. that was the biggest thing. I still know the ins and outs of lucid dreaming, its just that, because i can't recall very good anymore, i sometimes never know i have one.

I've tried the alarm clock idea, never worked. Maybe i should try writing something on my hand and tell myself to look at my hand, i did that a few times successfully. I've tried b-6 before and that doesn't help, except it seems to help me wake up earlier in the morning.

Nope, don't like smoking. I drink rarely, yeah I am 16, so that could be an issue. Oh, even when i have alot of stress.. i don't get nightmares. The only ones i have are really when i relize i'm sleep paralysed and that made me nervous, but now i know about it, i don't care. I'd like to know how to induce them, someone mentioned resident evil... that might work.

weirdest part is, i lost my dream recall after one extremly long LD. It happened in one night, but it lasted over a week. I never knew that was really possible, but evidently you can dream alot in a little bit of time. It lasted about a week and was about a war.. anyways, my side lost and my nightmare killed me. That was my last really big LD.

perhaps something was bothering you that caused you to have vivid dreams and nightmares enabling you to get lucid, and that issue got resolved?

well no, although my nightmares went like this.

      1. It was almost always in my room.
      2. The thing that scared me most, i never really saw, it looked almost like a grim reaper and was very dark, however i knew it was there. So i used to know howto either escape the dream, or control it and go elsewhere. Sometimes other things scared me, but still i was always in my room, and they never attacked, i just would become paralysed.

Ok, now for the out of the ordinary that were very common back then. I was a HUGE sleepwalker, i mean i would dream and walk around the house, sometimes go outside, one time i woke up standing on a chair. Another odd thing was, i think i used to have OBE's from time to time, i would wake up in my room, but it was like a mirror image, no idea but i used to go many places. Sometimes i would mumble in my sleep if someone caught me sleepwalking.

I've done none of this after i moved. Its good i don't sleepwalk, cause that was a bit dangerous, but its bad i don't have dream recall. Cause LDing was something I REALLY enjoyed and now i don't have that.

I suppose the biggest changes regarding to sleeping was the new house, and the fact that I am older. I still have many things that plauge my life, so I should have enough issues to have nightmares, but I don't.. which bothers me.

Another thing i do now, which i never did before, was go on the internet later at night, i used to only hit the computer during the day... so maybe that affects it? I can sleep 12 hours with no dream recall...
