Is this a good or bad idea?

Ive been thinking. What if you just did wbtb repeadedly.

like after 5hours of sleep you set your alarm to go off in another hour. and after that hour you set it off again etc untell you have a lucid dream.
Would that work? the only problem i could se with it is that your dream recall would be screwed up from waking up and sleeping over and over again.

i'm not sure about that....it's a good idea to wake up around 5 hours after you first go to sleep because that will allow plenty of time for the first period of REM to set in and let you have a bunch of dreams which in my case are always non-lucid...then if you wake up after that first cycle and stay up for 30-90 minutes and go back to sleep (which can be hard depending upon how easily you fall asleep after being woken up, so try out different lengths of time) you more quickly enter another period of REM which in my case is more likely to be lucid. At that point you might not want to wake yourself up after another hour because you could be interrupting a dream. I think it's best to let your internal clock wake you up which will often be after a period of REM is over leaving you with a vivid picture of the dream still in your mind. but you should try your method anyway as an experiment, maybe it will work wonders for you

I say try it! It might allow your mind to be more "awake" throughout the night. Although, we do wake up naturally several times a night.. as sluggo was saying, it might be better to wake up several times naturally instead of being startled by an alarm every time. Let us know how it goes...

Luck would have it that the alarm would go off in the middle of a LD and wake you up. Now that would be a bummer.

I see no reason that it would do anything, but if it did it would only last for that day, and it would probably only be being tired.

It would make your REM periods shorter and give you more chances to try and have a LD.

That's actually I way I do it. Though, lately I've been lazy about doing a proper WBTB. I've been waking, resetting the alarm then going right back to bed. Shame on me.

The way I've had the most success is doing a real WBTB after about 5 - 5 1/2 hours and staying up for 15 - 25 minutes. Then on the later alarms just staying up long enough to think straight. It's best when you're able to sleep in (of course).

From memory a lot of people have talked about doing WBTB over and over again. Some people have a lot of success I hear, I reckon just set the alarm the first time and train yourself to remember to stay still when every dream ends, just keep going like that. Otherwise yes, you will probably interrupt your awesomo dreams with a stupid alarm clock!
