      DEILD Distraction

When ever I am ready to DEILD half of the time I wake up have everything fine, but I am in an uncomftorable position and end up moving. If I wait longer will it go away, or do I need to be in a completely relaxed state when I wake up?

In my many dream reentries - lucid and non - I've moved after waking in almost every case. The important thing is to try to keep your eyes closed (or close them as soon as possible) and don't move any more than you need to be comfortable.

But, most importantly, keep your mind free of stray thought. Don't ponder your situation, the day, or anything else. The only thoughts you should have are that of the dream you just existed and of how you'd like it to continue (if that). Don't expend too much mental effort though. Any thought should be casual and not forced or labored.

On a side note, I dislike the term DEILD. It should be DRILD: the "R" being for Re-entry, because that's what the technique is really about: re-entering the dream state. But I guess that's all besides the point

      Ok, Thanks.

Are DEILD or DRILD shorter than regular dreams, becasue all of mine last about 30 seconds.

Well, first of all - just so there's no confusion - "DRILD" is a term I made up. To my knowledge, there's no technique actually called that.

To answer your question: DEILD, by virtue of necessarily happening part of the way through a REM cycle, is likely to be somewhat shorted than, say, a WILD. But that's only a general statement, however. They are capable of lasting quite some time. So 30 seconds is definitely on the short side and can be improved upon, especially when the event happens closer to the beginning of a REM period.

I figured as much. I just didn't want anyone getting confused by what I said.
