      VILD Questions...

Alright so I have some questions about the VILD technique. I am interested in this as I always have used my imagination to relax myself so that I fall asleep. Some questions though...

      1) When attempting to do a VILD is the point trying to fall asleep and then hope that the suggestion puts you in the same situation where you, hopefully, realize that you are dreaming, or is it more like a WILD where you get transitioned into it? If so is it as hard as a WILD to do? How long, etc.

2)How tired should I be? Should it be a WBTB?

3)To do a WBTB what is the best way to actually wake up after 5 hours? Alarms don't always wake me up that early as I am half asleep and just turn it off without realizing. What is a good way to wake up and remember?

4)Why does this work? How come in the past while imagining I have never experienced a LD? What do I have to do different.

And anything else. Right now I am just getting as much information as I can and I thought that a VILD would be an interesting way to try and get a LD. If all else fails I will fall asleep and be able to work on dream recall.

      EDIT:

Alright so also have a question about reality checks. Bear with me I am a noob.

5)Right now I am leaning towards doing a reality check passing through every doorway. Tough but effective. Now a question about RCs. What am I supposed to be doing? I look at my hands, "Oh cool" and walk away. I actually remember dream where I look at my hands for no reason. Mild frustration. Anyway's what am I actually supposed to be thinking? Am I supposed to try and get them to melt and then when they don't I say to myself it's not a dream. If so will this not happen exactly the same way in the dream?
