      Do you get tired from WBTB?

      The last week I've done WBTB every night. It may sound a bit crazy, but after 2 succesfull but short lucids after WBTB, I was determined to have one again.

      But now, after 6 days in a row trying WBTB, I feel tired during the day. I do sleep enough in total (at least 7-8 hours), but this breaking my sleep in 2 halves seems to have a bad effect on my wakefullness.

      I'm taking 2 20minute naps a day, after which I feel rested again and can continue for a few hours before feeling tired again.

      But I was wondering, what are your experiences with WBTB every night and does it make you feel tired too? Or am I just insane, waking up every night at 5 just to read the forum

      sounds to me like you are being too intense with your trials. making it too stressful. If you hit a block of failure. Have a night or two off, get your recall up, and revise your method (ie work out exactly what you are going to do next time you try)

      This will get confidence up (important!) and youll go back to be less tired and more succesful hopefully...

      If I fail a WBTB (often...lol) then yeah I feel tired
      If I succeed, my day is spent in a euphoric mood! so, im only tired when I fail...

      but definately take a break from WBTBing for a night or two

      goodluck

      Sounds like you are breaking up your delta sleep too much, but depends when you are waking?

      Normally if you wake after about 5 hours for WBTB you should be okay, but wouldn't want to do this everyday.

      When I was experementing with a technique i was putting together I found that after 4 solid days of getting up after 4-5 hours I was getting tired because I was breaking up my delta (deep) sleep - But after 5 hours was easier to manage.

      I will say though I also noticed that doing it so often in a row, meant that I needed more deep sleep to recover meaning less REM sleep, which could impact lucid dreams.

      Yeah, I've been a bit too fanatic about it. Just didn't want to miss any chance

      I allways fall back asleep very easily, so it's not a fact of missing sleep-hours.

      Adam, you might be right about waking up too early. Last 2 days I woke up after only 4 hours, because I went to bed too late. I'll sleep normally for a few days and then try again every other day, or maybe even less. Plus waking up after at least 5 hours of good sleep.
      Thanks for sharing!

      As for what i learn, learning has some stages
      1. You establish a habit {this takes time and loooots of effort}
      2. Incubation {you dont do anything, and let it organize itself in braing from itself}
      3. You enjoy it, as it feels normal now
      4. Supporting the habit {this applies, when you dont use what you learned for some time, and you have to bring some effort to support it}

      Now enjoy phase 2. I think

      How are you waking up? I am completely against using alarm clocks, they are unnatural and jerk you out of sleep. This is supposed to be done naturally. If, for example, you wake up in the middle of your deep sleep cycle then you won't go back into it; that's not how the body works. Wake up naturally, an easy was to do this is to drink a lot of water before bed.

      I know where you're coming from.. sometimes it feels like every night that I don't have a lucid dream (the vast majority of nights then ) is a night wasted.. but I'm currently only trying WBTB on the weekend.. at least then if you feel tired you can lie in...

      ...although I didn't "get up" until 4pm today, and I still haven't actually left my bed... I really do take the 'lie in' thing too far, don't I.......

      Well, an alarm is really the only way I can wake up before 8.00h
      I never wake up during the night :-( Maybe if I really drink a lot of water, that could be an idea for next time (when I'm off polyphasic sleep, that is)

      Yeah, that's it!
      I was so fascinated by lucid dreams, I just couldn't wait to have one and tried everything possible, only to wake up disappointed if it didn't happen that night. Now I know there's other techniques that can be done during the day, plus I've started a polyphasic sleeping 'experiment' and won't be able to WBTB at this time.

      Hahaha, that is really lazy But if you have the chance to do so, enjoy!

      Well I dont feel phisically tired from WBTB but unfortunatelly I stopped to LD. After few nights It got so good that i had 2-3 LD's every night and then after 10 days or some it suddenly stopped...just when I thought that I will allways be able to LD every night(stupid me...)

      I have the feeling that Im sleeping too deeply and just cant think so clear in my dreams any more.
      Do you guys think that it can be because Im trying too often without rest(normal sleep).

      Thanks.

      Ahh, boulderdash, WBTB never works for me, and I find I have trouble falling back asleep once I've been awake for an hour or so.
      If I did it every night, I am sure I would feel tired throughtout the day as well. Not exactly my cup of tea.
      I want to have lucid dreams regularily WITHOUT waking myself up everynight for gosh knows how long...

      Do a reality check.

      I did the same thing for the past week, and now that I think about it, I did feel like shit sometimes, especially torwards night. I guess I just never associated it with my WBTBing.

      Half of those night, I'd be pissed because I used an alarm, so I'd just get up and hit it and fall back asleep. I'm going to try natural waking up from now on though. I know I can do it, I just need to make it a habit.
