      My Recent Favorite RC

I got this idea from Universal Mind. Lately I've been trying to float as a reality check. Sometimes looking at the clock too much isn't a good idea because people will think you're bored. Holding your nose is weird in public, and even looking at your hands can be a little obvious if you do it too often. The internal breathing block is OK, but I'm afraid that is too subtle to work in a dream.

Trying to float works in any situation; sitting, walking, even driving, and is totally unobtrusive. I've floated lots of times in lucid and non-lucid dreams, so I'm pretty sure it will work if I remember to try it in a dream.

Hopefully I'll get the chance soon.

I do this - it works pretty well for me. You're right about it being subtle.

It's fun doing the nose check just for the sake of it once lucid though! Actually, maybe that's just me lol.

Lol nah it's not just you. The nose check feels so weird... I usually do it a couple times once I know I'm dreaming

Oh I thought of another reason why I like the floating RC. If you are trying a technique such as FILD, any RC that makes you move messes up what you are trying to do if you aren't actually asleep yet, but you can try to float without moving and being disturbed.

What's the deal with this RC, you just will yourself to float?

That sounds easy and inconspicuous :] but it's probably not a good RC for a beginner until they've actually made themselves float in a dream and they know how.

Yea, that's all, just try to float off of the ground.

I know some people have trouble with flying and floating dreams, but I think most people can do it pretty easily.

You're probably right that's a good idea to have a few lucids and try it before hand; but it could work even the first time, I think.

That'd be alot saner looking that plugging my nose for no apparent reason or suddenly biting down on my finger in public.

I'll remember that... willed floating RC=not looking like an insane person.

I like this one too! Though in defense of the nose RC (my favorite), I think I manage to do it pretty subtly. I mean I don't like sit there, holding my nose until kingdom come... all it takes is one quick intake of breath.

Good point about it being useful during techniques.

Sound like a good idea. Just one concern. If you beleived a dream was reality and performed this RC, wouldn't you NOT be able to float just because of the beleif, or doubt? I don't know.

      Anyway, it could be promising.
