Thread: failed RC

im fairly new to LD and dream recall in general. i started trying it out last night and managed to remember 4 dreams, of which one was lucid (but passively, i couldnt change anything) when usually i wouldnt be able to remember even a single dream.

i have an ability to wake up at a certain time without setting an alarm, so right before sleeping i told myself to wake up 4.5 hours later (at which point i could remember two dreams) i then slowly drifted to sleep again while consciously telling myself that i was gonna realize im dreaming (what method is this? WILD?)

after beginning a dream, i remember to test it out by trying to poke one finger through the opposite hand (the only method i could think of at the time) however this didnt work! i couldnt do it...

any ideas on why? has anyone had this happen before?
