Has anyone ever tried a PILD?

      A Partner Induced Lucid Dream?

Since my boyfriend is a night owl (I am too, but he is even moreso than me), and often awake while I'm asleep (for a few hours anyway), I had the idea that he could try to signal me when I'm dreaming, so I could have a lucid dream. He has a lighter that has a little blue light on it, so last night I asked him to wait til I'd been sleeping an hour and a half, and check if I seemed to be dreaming (he says he can tell when I am, that he can see my eyes moving under my eyelids), and then flash that blue light at my closed eyes three times, with ten seconds between flashes.

This morning I woke up, however, with no recall of any dreams at all, so I've no idea if it worked and I just don't remember, or it didn't work at all. I'm not sure the penlight is bright enough, to be honest, so we're going to try again tonight and he's going to use a stronger light.

I was just wondering if this had been done before... I was trying to think of a way to help me have lucid dreams (I had lots as a child but only a few as an adult, so far), and I thought hey - he's often awake when I'm sleeping, maybe he could signal me in some way It's still early days obviously, but I'm hoping we can come up with something that works.

      Has anyone else tried this?

I have never personaly tried it. (Don't have anyone willing to help me. ) But I want to some time. Though as for you, you should be remembering at least 1 dream a night (prefferibly 2-3 a night) else you could have had a lucid dream, and just not remembered it. Chances are, if you are remembering at least 1, then you will remember the lucid one. As for queing, why don't you try sound? (just an oppinion) for example, have him whisper in your ear that you are dreaming, and you have complete control of your suroundings etc. etc. That should intertwine with your dream, and perhaps that would work.

Anyway, good luck with your next attempt!

Oh I do remember at least one dream per night - more often two or three. It's just that when I woke up yesterday morning I couldn't remember anything - it happens once in a while. It probably happened yesterday because I had a lot to do and my mind immediately snapped to that when I woke up, instead of going over the nights dreams. I tried to remember some, but it was no use.

But yeah, we're going to try again tonight with a brighter light I like your idea of sound, I'm just worried that it'll wake me up, as I can be a light sleeper when it comes to sound (he uses headphones to listen to the tv after I go to sleep). It's worth a try though, perhaps if he just whispered it softly it'll work.

I hope someday you'll have someone to help you with a PILD. I'm convinced it could work - I mean, why not?

Its a similar concept to the NovaDreamer. (a mask that flashes lights at you after you have been asleep a while) People say that instead of leading to lucidity, their head just explains the lights inside the dream.

Yeah, I came up with this idea basically because I read about the NovaDreamer but I'm not sure I want to get it yet (plus I heard they're coming out with a new model soon? I'd rather wait for that). It seemed to me that if you live with someone who's willing to help you, you could experiment with a lot of different ways for them to signal you once you're in REM.

Yeah, like that guy on YouTube explaining it -- he saw the flashes from the NovaDreamer inside a lucid dream. He looked at his rearview mirror and saw the police pulling him over.

And then when he was flying (on another night), the police suddenly had helecopters and were chasing him

Your best bet is just to practice; start with DILDs.

I do practice I do WILD and MILD, among other things. The PILD is on top of those things, not instead of them.

This is very similar to the NovaDreamer concept. If you do this often enough and keep a serious intention to recognize the dreamsign, it can work very well.
