I haven't wilded yet either, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Remember when counting that the numbers don't really matter. They're only to keep your mind occupied and aware as you fall asleep. Don't stress about remembering exactly where you left off when you get sidetracked. I've found that counting only the thirties is the most relaxing for me. When I started, I would go up to 150 before I got sick of it and gave up. It was keeping me too awake. Now, I've been drifting off without actually WILDing, but it's still better than laying awake for 2 hours. It does give me some fairly good non-lucids. Also, for me, repeating "I'm dreaming" only keeps me more awake so I can't fall asleep.
Moe, have you tried brainwave entrainment? I've used it since I started trying to WILD, and have noticed that when I don't use it, I don't get so strong vibrations. If you have a PSP that you can play homebrew on, try getting the Portable Meditation Engine from PSPupdates.com. Or you can get Brainwave Generator for use on your computer. There are lucid dreaming presets you can download for that one. For the PSP, I use my own that takes me down from 8 Hz to 4 really fast, then slowly back up to 6, then fast down to 4. I'm still tweaking it. I think 8 Hz may be too much. It wakes me up.
