Not really a nightmare, but sorta one

Ok.. i sometimes get these. I used to start out with the normal kinda nightmares. Now i seem to still be having them, but not knowing that i do. The ones i have now are deep-plotted, they usually involve me killing someone (not actually doing it, but knowing i did). And well i do my best to cover it up or escape. My fear seems to be of gettin in trouble cause the last one i had was lucid, but i did not relize it was not real.. and i was sittin on a bench tryin to figure out how to escape from the cops. Very strage, they last for long perods of time, usually over an hour to a day, and they are so deep, that once i find out, i wake up. And its a creepy feeling.

Now they are not truly nightmares cause i'm not terrified, but i am scared, because they are some of the most realistic dreams i have ever had. They are LDs.. but its crazy, cause the stuff i do in them, i would NEVER think of doing...

I was just about to write you off as a complete lunatic.... when I remembered that I had the exact same dream awhile back! I had killed someone and was trying to dump the body so I wouldnt get caught. I was really scared of getting caught. THen they found the body! But this dream that I had wasn't lucid. Why would you care about getting caught if you were lucid?

Because, even though you are lucid, you may not grasp that it isn't real, and you may feel compelled to go along with the plot anyway.

No i am NOT a lunitic, its just what i fear most, so i figure thats why i have them.

I can understand that. And theres always different levels of lucidity.

I was just kidding. I said I was about to write you off as a complete lunatic and then I rememebered I had the same dream. So if I thought you were a lunatic then I would be one too! Just a joke. A bad one maybe, but just a joke.

I was under the impression that the definition of a lucid dream is one that you consciously know that you are dreaming and can therefore take control of the dream; that if you still believe that the dream is reality then you are not in a lucid state.

If this is not the definition, then what is a lucid dream? How can you be lucid but not be in control? I sometimes have dreams in which I can impulsively alter the situations in which I am participating but I would not consider them lucid because I am not actively in control.

      Enlighten me.

Now they are not truly nightmares cause i'm not terrified, but i am scared, because they are some of the most realistic dreams i have ever had.[/b]
I would try using the situation as a dreamsign if possible. Are you writing them down afterwards? How often do you have these nightmares? Is there something bothering you in your life? Is there something you are trying to hide from people around you? Much stress?

Nightmares are common. Try not to let them bother you - or attempt to use them to become a dreaming advantage in order to become actively lucid.

I really do not know what to call them, it is a whole other level of dreaming, its realism, but with high awareness.

I wake up from these still feelin pretty anxious, good news is i hardly get them. They appear to have a plan, like a game, but i can control myself (oddly enough, i've had 3rd person before a couple times)

I really don't know, someone should answer this.
