      Wild Issues

I use WILD with WBTB after 4 to 6 hours of sleep.

I have commonly had an issue where SP never really sets in and I actually start to feel really restless after about 45 minutes.

Its like I have been keeping my arm still for so long and then I need to move it. Its that feeling.

So then I end up giving in and stretching, then going to bed.

The only thing I have been doing different is I have not been counting lately.

Any ideas to why SP does not start?

When you wake up for your WBTB, how long do you stay awake before going back to WILD? This time period is something you can adjust, make it shorter if you're having problems going back to sleep (or getting into SP), and make it longer if you fall asleep too quickly.

Anywhere between 5 to 80 minutes.

Its funny because when I roll over I am out within 60 seconds every time.

I've been having trouble with WILD, too. In fact, I just tried it this morning. I even went out and bought ear plugs and a sleeping mask to see if that would help. I tossed around for about an hour-and-a-half before finally giving up and falling asleep. I've been trying the counting technique. I started to feel my body slow down and relax. This morning, my finger even started to twitch like my body was finally falling asleep. But something always happens to hinder my progress. Like, my mind will start to wander and I feel like when I pull it back and keep counting, that's just keeping me awake longer.

      Anybody got any tips?

I've only got a couple WILDs, but the times I succeeded, I've found that it doesn't really matter what you think about. All that matters is that you remain completely still and comfortable. Laying on my side is best for me, but pick your most comfortable position. Keep your mind occupied by thinking about anything; Imagining that you're climbing a rope is good. Try to feel it in your hands and feel yourself moving upwards and away from your real body. Just think of something so you don't let your mind fall asleep and don't move. Some people say it's okay to swallow. For me, it's not. Eventually your body will fall asleep and you'll be lucid. I was a little disoriented at first, but just remember where you really are and what you're doing. If you're anywhere else, you know it's a dream.

In dreams of unspeakable joy—of restored friendships; of revived embraces; of love which said it had never died; of faces that had vanished long ago, yet said with smiling lips that they knew nothing of the grave; of pardons implored, and granted with such bursting floods of love, that I was almost glad I had sinned—thus I passed through this wondrous twilight. —George MacDonald

      Unhappy

Last night I did a WBTB at 5 in the morning cos I'm quite a late sleeper and I found I was too awake to do much. I did try WILDing but it didn't seem to have much effect, I kinda got small HI but except that it was black. So I'd been asleep for 5 hours, stayed awake for 1 hour reading LD stuff, but sadly nothing :/ still I have the weekend coming to attempt something before I find my self falling asleep all the time

      C ya soon guys

Next time don't stay awake for so long. You're going to have to change that time around until you get the right balance.

I'm in the same boat. The other day, I was listening to my ipod while being very relaxed. My mind was focused and not giving attention to my body. I did noticed my body was twitching a little, which is good because it meant that the body is starting to think I'm kind of dreaming. But it kept going for almost an hour and my muscles were starting to hurt. So I gave I up and went to sleep.

Thanks Wave I'll try that at the weekend, to be fair when I do wake up I'm like a zombie and I reckon when i tried that I totally woke my self up and it was REALLY hard to get to sleep. Guess it's just me I'd love to find out my personal REM period but stuff is tough and I was in the hospital on Tuesday and got stitches in my back so I'll have to wait till Saturday or Sunday to try anything :/. STILL can't wait for a good LD *shivers with excitement*

Yes I love the boogie emote XD

all my wilds have come to me naturally and always when I'm extremely tired. When I actually attempted wilds i'd do WBTB but i'd be way too awake to go to bed (I have a hard time).

However, if I sleep for about 5-7 hours go to class for 4 and then go back to bed (I'm really tired and with no energy at this time) I can Wild about 30-40% of the time. (do it twice a week, usually get one a week or every other)

Also haven't seen much HI. I just get a loud static noise in my ear and if I passively listen to it it grows until I'm suddenly dreaming

Counting keeps me awake also, so i just pay attention to breathing. I noticed that if im 'serious' about WILDing that I can't do it and it usually happens when im not trying hard.
