      SP and outside Noises

Hi there, i can successfully attain SP every night when using WILD or FILD which on these forums ain't no big achievement.

but the main problem is, apart form falling sound asleep before the "images" or "loud noises" start to form, i can hear outside noises such as my parents coughing or them walking up and down the hall. They arnt particulary loud noises but it really puts me off and sends me off wanting to get up and scream at them to be fking quiet!

      argh

anyone else have any ideas APART from earplugs which dont work for me and using Ipod earphones etc cause im apraid i might strangle myself in my sleep xD

      cheers again,

      nik

Are you using WBTB? Aside from making WILDs much easier, I doubt your parents will be making any noise at four in the morning.

Maybe "white noise" (i.e, like the sound from a fan) would help drown out the outside noises while not keeping you awake.

I'll vouch for the earplugs that squish up in your ears. They work surprisingly well. My cat was meowing at me early this morning while I was wearing them. He was in the same room and my cat is half siamese so he's loud. But I could barely hear him! So I'm sure that if all you have to deal with is slight noises like the movements of your parents in another room, these will probably work very well for you.

yeah they worked well for me but now i seem to think about the sound of my heart beating in my ears if you know what i mean... can anyone suggest a method or two for ignoring this noise?

      cheers

You could always not ignore your hearbeat and simply slowly count every so many beats.. "1 - I'm dreaming, 2 - I'm dreaming, etc." or you could try to focus on creating a dream scene in your mind (how it looks, how it sounds, how things feel, etc.).
