      Trying Too Hard...

Does anyone here feel that when they try to hard to have a lucid dream, that it rarely ever works??? It might only be me but if I constantly think having a lucid dream, I never have one...

I have an idea for a RC that goes along with other RCs... Let's say you try the nose technique... I think it would be more effective if you say "Am I dreaming right now?" After the RC you should say "No because if I was dreaming I would be able to breathe." I also think that once a day you should partially cover up your nose because then you will have an easier time realizing that breathing means that you're in a dream... I remember someone said that they tried an RC in a dream and they could breathe but they got confused and didn't think that it was a lucid dream... So after you partially cover up your nose you should say "I am in a lucid dream because I can breathe out of my nose." You also have to be serious and make it sound convincing to your mind...

I'm not sure if this would work with attaining lucid dreams but you might as well give it a try...

Trying too hard can be a problem yes. It can cause a lot of stress when you don't succeed, which can inhibit not only Lucid Dreaming, but Dream Recall. Try to relax and keep it on your mind, but don't worry about it too much. A lot of people notice huge results after they stop trying to Lucid Dream.

Trying too hard will get you nowhere near lucidity...maybe you'd have a dream about lucid dreaming. You could try to have them nearer to sleep time....when it's most crucial. The day stuff like reality checking, just do a few to have an idea and remember it because you can use it as MILD when you're nearer to sleep time and during WBTB, it's more efficient than constantly doing checks during the day hoping by chance you'll do them in the dream.
