      first answer.
yes yes and yes! journaling is extremely helpful. the more consistent and more often, the better. why not every day? one of the most important points about journaling is to do it even on days when you barely remember anything... you mull it over in your head for the minutes when you awake and you will remember more and more as you do this (i blur my eyes and think of feelings... some items come and build more items). i'd bet that on the days when you say "i can't or do not remember", there really can be something to remember... it just takes practice! i cannot tell you how many times things have "hit" me in the middle of the day (from a dream memory) since i have started journaling.... really, if you do it, you will NOT regret it. what good is an LD if you cannot remember it?

      second answer.
      make your alarm louder?

      good luck!

      1. Yes. You should DJ no matter what. I have gone on and off, and although it takes more work and effort, as well as snatching up to a good 15 minutes of my early morning activities, I always end up thankful that I've gotten back into it after taking a break from it. If you have trouble remembering dreams sometimes, then journaling will help you fill in those gaps, and you'll get to the point where you can only write down the important parts of a dream because there's too many dreams with too much substance to write down without getting a bad writers cramp.

      2. The one thing that comes to my head is caffeine. I know of a few others, but the names escape me and they're some over the counter drugs. Perhaps you could have a good cup of green tea before bed. It will probably help you sleep lighter, which will result in more REM sleep for you, so more dreams. Also, it sounds like you might be using your phone for an alarm, because you talked about putting it under your pillow and on vibrate (two things you can't really do with an alarm clock ). I'd get an alarm clock. If you can get one that gets FM or AM radio, then go to a frequency with no station so you only hear the static (white noise), then that would be best. The white noise tends to play softer on your ears, yet is enough to wake you up. It isn't as harsh as a beeping noise, and not as distractive as people talking or music. Since it's softer, it probably won't inhibit your recall as much as an alarm would.

      3. Good luck for us both!

You can always write them down later on in the day, as long as you get something written down.

If you comit to it a couple times, you'll find that it helps a lot, and get used to doing it.

Well yes it helps to do a dream journal, you need your recall to remember lucids! The more the merrier as well! Just think of it as the more you dream journal the better your recall. Ofcourse you can have days when you don't need to journal it all down, it doesn't necessarily mean your recall is going to instantly suck.

I guess you need a better alarm clock or just use self suggestion and tell yourself to wake up after each dream period.

Also congrats on the lucid, your control will improve after time.

      alright.

also, its not that i have horrible control, its that the lucid was a a random lucid that i get a lot and i didn't have control. if i do a method, i get total control

spontaneous thats the word for last night's ld- it was one of those ones that happen naturally with no tech or RC or anything.

I will maybe tell you something different. But that comes directly from my experience. One of the first posts i wrote in Dreamviews was about dream recall. I couldnt manage to wake myself up. And now... SOmetimes i have problems to fall asleep. My sleep becomes lighter when i do a lot of attempts.

I have one pretty drastic measure, which could probably help you. And that is to wake your mind right before falling asleep. That would make your sleep lighter, and you would awake more times at night. But you wont feel rested.

Now to be more concrete>> here is my method. Just before falling asleep, sit down in comfortable chair or lye yourself on the floor {dont even think about the bed}. Then relax your body completely. But dont do it consciously. Just relax. No technique here. You could also turn on some music you like. Do this for 20 minutes. Dont fall asleep.

Now stand up, wake yourself up fully. If you feel sleepy. The attempt is over. You shouldnt continue. If you feel really refreshed. YOu could do something to wake your mind up. Some maths or some SUDOKU or whatever. Its fully up to you.
Here comes the drastic part. Move to bed. ANd here it begins. You wont be able to fall asleep. Eventually you will. But you will wake up and you will fall asleep. and so on....

This helped me to have all of my induced lucids. No reality checking, no dreamsigns, but wakefullness and increased awareness.....

And also it helped me to become light sleeper.

1: It's not that hard to remember. Just put it by your bed. As for it helping you, journaling helps no matter what. If you do it every day it's probably better.

2: Buy an alarm clock. Using your cell phone probably isn't the best idea, especially since it's under your pillow on vibrate.
