Belief, faith, intent, desire, craving together with a suitable method that is part of the existing thought pattern of the person = Lucid dreams....

      I agree.

If you walk around thinking about Lucid dreaming as something very difficult to achieve, you might just create a mental block which can obviously make it hard. I think LaBerge said something similar in his book, Exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming.

I think it's important to keep a positive attitude towards lucid dreaming and be patient about it. Everyone can lucid dream. The trick is to find what works for you. And while following the techniques on this board to the letter wont work for everyone, they still serve as great guidelines you can use to find your own pathway to lucidity

Aye. I haven't recalled my dreams for the last 3-4 years. And since I heard about lucid dreaming not long ago, I've begun to remember every nights dream.

I can say almost without doubt that this is because I've been going around thinking.
"Oh, damn. I can't dream. Fuck it."

Now that I know that I can, and I know that I can have a Lucid Dream, (And might have had one or two! :0) it made everything so much easier.
Just tell yourself this, with this subject, it's not even this thing of 'convincing yourself' or 'tricking your brain' or 'making yourself believe' something. No, this is actually truth, you CAN! And I can! Soon I will!

It's a risky scenario though. If someone says "Really? Okay I'm going to have a dream tonight! I will!", and then they don't have one, they will just say "I guess it was just made up, I'll never have one".

your belief is the most powerful thing in the universe. think about it, anything anyone ever does is based on what you can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. so if i control my senses then i can do anything that i can possibly imagine. if you can control your beliefs and perceptions then you can turn the world into one huge placebo.

life would turn into a lucid dream.

Yep, believing may be the most important part of LDing and dream recall.

But to people around you, it would look like you've plainly gone crazy.
