      My HI is...bad (attempting a WILD)

      Well, like everyone else, I'm attempting to do a WILD and failing. So I lay down to go to sleep. I close my eyes and visualize things in my mind's eye. I do this for a long time. I start seeing things in my real eyes. Mostly I see rings and shapes, they are very fuzzy and hard to see. I start concentrating on them. I do this for a while but I hear no sounds and don't get and SP. I open my eyes, and find I've been doing this for an hour. This happens basically every time. Any tips?

      Are you doing a wbtb first?

      This involves going to sleep for 5 or more hours, waking up, and going to sleep again. This will definatly improve your chances.

      Also, although i don't get (or notice) HI, i've heard that you are not supposed to concentrate on it at all, but to passively...'regard' (right word?) it.

      But remember, you don't need to use HI to WILD. Ive had 4 WILD's and i didnt start seeing anything until i opened my eyes in the dream. Until then it was just feelings of falling, spinning, shaking, and hearing wind-like sounds.

      Everyone is different, and there are many ways of WILDing.

      Good luck. ^_~

      HI is one form of visualization, try a different sense combined with WBTB. I never see HI, but through use of tactile senses I can easily visualize a scene or object... without even thinking about what it looks like.

      Stick with it, defiantly try what you normally do with a WBTB if you arent already, then maybe try a diff tech.

      What I do is stimulate all my senses to activate my imagination and enter a dream.. some people are more visually oriented, others more verbally etc.. if you use your imagination on all the 5 senses you're sure you'll get the right one :p

      Would someone mind going through this list and labeling what each term actually stands for? I know about half of them, but can't find the rest. Also, what's HI? Hyper Intelligence? Heightened Intellect?
      Sometimes I want to run away
      And just keep on running
      Never stop
      And never look back

      mild= Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream
      wild= Wake Induced Lucid Dream
      fild= Finger Induced Lucid Dream
      vild= Visually Induced Lucid Dream
      cat= Cycle Adjustment Technique
      p&rild= Punishment & Reward Induced Lucid Dream
      dcild= Dream Character Induced Lucid Dream
      tild= Thirst Induced Lucid Dream
      rild= Guessing Reward Induced Lucid Dream because thats what is usually stands for (Although he has p&r already, may be reality, or something different)
      delid= Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream
      total Lucid dreams=3

      And HI is hypnagogic imagery, basically it happens when you are close to falling asleep, some people see basic shapes, some see fully detailed pics, some hear noises, etc.. Alot of times you begin to see your dream land forming before your eyes.. If i ever see anything its very very primitive shapes, like a circle or triangle.

      You can break it down to the main techniques if you want, these are as follows:

      • DILD
      • MILD
      • WILD
      • VILD
      • FILD
      • DEILD

      Think of it like the colour wheel, they're like the primary colours. And these are the colours on the outside:

      • PILD
      • RILD
      • TILD
      • SILD
      • UILD
      • CAT

      Those are like sub-techniques adapted from from the originals. Just if you got curious.

      Are you focusing on going to sleep? That's a killer.
      Are you not tired? That's also a killer.
      Are you nervous about SP? That could also cause some problems.

      From my experience.
