It's hard to answer your question, since every human has a different amount of time for them to go between phases of sleep. Personally, the amount of time for me to enter HI depends of howtired I am and what the light level is in my room. Between HI and a dream, however, the amount of time seems to be constant. It feels like about 10 seconds or so, but it may be longer in reality.

I've never heard that before. How does the light level affect it? I always sleep with a lamp on; could this be affecting attempts I have to WILD? I have had HI a few times and SP once. The SP I had though was from waking up, not from attempting to WILD.

I usually sleep with all my lights off but if I fall asleep during daylight hours or while all the lights in the house are on, i seem to have a much greater dream recall!? don't know why though.
