      SP and beyond?

I am very new to the world of techniques for lucid dreams, Ever since i can remember I have had lucid dream...just not on purpose. But lately I have seen ways such as WILD. I have tried it a couple times and the furthest I got was some weird images and a muscle contraction in my back.

So I am asking, how long does it take to get to SP and what are the best ways to get there? Thanks!!!

first couple of times I tried to WILD, I would get about that far and then think too much about it. I think the tone of the game is to basically relax and let your body fall asleep. That is usually how I get to SP when I DEILD. I just get thrown off because of false awakenings. I even had an FA last night when I was really wearing an eye cover.

Different people reach the stage of SP and/or HI within 10 minutes. Other people (like me) can wait more than an hour.

Once you get to SP and/or HI you are really close to falling asleep, just minutes away. The key is to relax and not pay any attention to the SP and/or HI. Sort of ride it out and stay calm. Pretty soon you will find yourself in a dream.

If you just wait and wait you may want to try "rolling into the dream." I've had to do that a few times. I just imagined the sensation of rocking from side to side for a few minutes. Then I rolled out of bed and on to the floor. Every time I've done this I was POSITIVE I was actually awake and had just fallen out of bed, but when I did an RC I found I was really dreaming.

It is also possible to WILD without experiencing any SP or HI. I'm not quite sure how this happens, but know it does (because I've done it).

Good luck, I hope this helps!

I was just reading this post by Clairity the other day:

It has some tricks to get you past the sleep paralysis stage, and into a dream. If you haven't read Clairity's whole WILD tutorial yet, you definitely should. She rocks.

It's hard to answer your question, since every human has a different amount of time for them to go between phases of sleep. Personally, the amount of time for me to enter HI depends of howtired I am and what the light level is in my room. Between HI and a dream, however, the amount of time seems to be constant. It feels like about 10 seconds or so, but it may be longer in reality.

I've never heard that before. How does the light level affect it? I always sleep with a lamp on; could this be affecting attempts I have to WILD? I have had HI a few times and SP once. The SP I had though was from waking up, not from attempting to WILD.

I usually sleep with all my lights off but if I fall asleep during daylight hours or while all the lights in the house are on, i seem to have a much greater dream recall!? don't know why though.
