Thread: Impossible for some to have a WILD?

I was wondering if you think it could be impossible for some people to have a WILD. I am starting to think that no matter what I do, I cant enter a dream while I am conscious. Now I have had a little success with WILDs but only when I fell asleep or lost consciousness then woke up as the dream formed.

Theres like a line between being asleep and awake and I can't cross it unless my brain is sleeping. A lot of people say they have it as stages, where their body slowly seems to fall asleep. Mine seems to go all at once, I am either fully awake, or I am dreaming.

I really don't know if your question has an answer. It just seems easier for some people for some reason.

When I was learning, I didn't think I would ever be able to. It's still difficult for me.

Just keep trying, that's all you can do! I think you will get it sooner or later. Probably sooner.

What exactly is the purpose of having a WILD? If you are laying there, and fall asleep and have an LD how is the experience any different than going from being awake straight into an LD like a WILD?

Yep, you sure did!

Being able to induce them at will is the goal instead of having the hit and miss like you do when you have the spontaneously.

Consider how neat it would be of every night you could incude by MILD early in the night and WILD late in the night. That's 14 LDs a WEEK!

Oh ok, now I see. Wow 14 LDs a week! I wonder if its addictive...some people might just end up dreamin their lives away.

The point of a WILD is to enter the dream while concious so you are already concious when you enter the dream...

Kaniaz, are you trying to see HI when you are first going to sleep? If you are, you have to stay concious for an hour or more. Remember, it takes 90 minutes to enter your first dream.

Yeah same, I'm fairly new but have only had vivid HI about 3 times unintentionally while falling asleep.

Whenever I set out to WILD It ends up failing. The closest I think I've gotten is when just trying to fall asleep normally I had a warm nearly numbing feeling come over by body like I was about to enter paralysis but I ended up exiting my relaxed state because I was thinking about it too much.

The only limits you have are the ones you put on yourself. Ill leave it at that.

alot of people report WILDs to be much more vivid than the other lucid dream techniques... so that could be another reason you would aim for success with it.

the great thing about LDs is you don't dream your life away really... you dream away the part of your life you never consciously experience anyways. it's like living two lives

Yes some of them are. With WILD, you should be entering into the beginning of a REM cycle. It is also later in the morning, so you will have longer REM cycles. Results in longer, and more vivid LDs.

Thats not true gameover, would b e nice if it was but it isn't. If it was you could fly in real life by just jumping off a building.

I know some people can't see HI either because I can't. At best every once in a while I will see a blob of light float by for a few seconds then stop, which might not even be HI. Thats normally after a long time too. Could spend an hour trying a WILD and see it maybe twice for 5-10 seconds each time. That basicly means you are staring at blackness the entire time, and yea it is boring.

The point is not that you can do anything, but that you create limits that wont let you go as far as you can go. I dont put any limits on myself, so I can reach my fullest potential. I dont believe theres asingle perso who couldnt have succesfull WILD's if they wanted to.

Well I know everyone can do "some" type of WILD. I still consider falling asleep and waking back up before you go into the dream a WILD even if your not awake the entire time.

I had two lucid dreams today, I wasn't really trying though. What I did was just lay on my back and went to sleep hoping I would get a dream. They where only like 10 seconds each but it did work. I wasn't awake entering the dream either but I did become lucid pretty close to the start. I might have to try doing WILDs like that. Lay down telling myself I want to have a lucid dream then try and catch myself near the start.

I think I might have to just start trying that way more often because I don't think I can physically enter a dream while being awake the entire time. Thing you have to remeber is everyone is different. I mean, I have been trying it for 7 months.

I think its like sleep walking, you can't just force yourself to sleep walk as far as I know. If your body won't physically fall asleep while your even slightly conscious then its never going to work no matter how long you lay there.

I know everyone's different. I never said otherwise. I'm talking about determination. And not much can stand in it's way. Is it luck that very determined people get what they want?

It can be. I should of quit like 3 months ago and focused on another method but some reason I keep trying WILDs even though I get no where with them.

And WILD is one of those things that are harder to do when you stress about it. SO maybe just try something else, andc oem abck to it. Just doing WBTB's gives me WILD's soetimes when i dont even plan it.

Tried that already. Nothing I do seem to have any effect on WILDs except for falling asleep in the middle of it.

Remember WILD's are the hardest one to do. Curious, how long have you tried for?

Sorry...missed that. Well, I can only imagine the frustration you must feel so for me to tell you to not give up might sound dumb, but I really believe you can do it.

WILD's just take patience and focus, the past few nights ive been trying to enter a dream state conciously without having woken up after sleeping for a few hours. If you just stare at the HI for long enough it gets darker and darker, for me it was like i was opening a different set of eyes and staring into my room, sept then after that i was dumb enough to open my real eyes .

Traditional WILD technique stresses laying in bed until you fall asleep.
But it's very hard to implement it for a typical "coach potato" type of kid or adult.
Think about it - almost none of us perform heavy physical activity, walk long distances or otherwise tire their body through the day.
Minimum physical exercise results in you being not tired = trouble falling asleep.

On ld4all, I've read it takes on average 8 minutes for a person to fall asleep. I dont know if this information is correct, but there's a great chance it is...

As a result, some people report very easy WILDs, while others (like me) have great trouble falling asleep
