      Exclamation Help! Hit a roadblock.

Well, i can't really wake up early, because I have school 5 days of the week, so that cuts the possibility of using some techniques. I really am trying to use dreamsigns or reality checking, but I don't know how I would do that in a dream if you don't realize you are dreaming...also...how can you do something in a dream if you end up not remembering most of it?

      Please help!
      Thanks!

First work on achieving a good dream recall (remembering many of the dreams). Try to record your dreams down in a Dream Journal (DJ) as to make reference to how many dreams you recall per night). This step mainly takes time but can be facilitated through waking during your REM periods (leaving only when you wake in the morning because as you said, you won't wake at abnormal times). Good luck.

simplest solution that works well for me is if you have good recall and you wake up from a really vivid dream during the night, write it down while doing reality checks, then think about what you want to do in a lucid as you fall back asleep.

works like a charm for me

The idea with RCing is that you make it a habit. If you RC every time you do X, then it will become natural to you. Then in a dream, you do X and then do what you naturally do, which is a reality check. Do you see what I'm saying?

I said a lot of do's in that explanation.

If you do not have time to wake up early try and go to bed early and then wake up during the night to do your homework/whatever. stay up for an hour or to and then go back to bed with the intent to lucid dream. this will help you to quickly reach REM sleep with this pattern and should not harm your schedule too much.

for dreamsigns, anything that looks out of place, or amazing i do a reality check. i will also do reality checks whenever i think of them periodically throughout the day or when i think of dreaming/dreams. i do a quick nose pinch reality check and then do not just stop and say it is real life but instead ask yourself, "what would i do if this was a dream?" then use as many senses as you can in your visualization of what you would do, like flying is a perfect example since it is a reality check within itself. (this really helps and its not hard to do and quite entertaining)

by doing reality checks during the day everytime you think of it, it becomes a habbit which you can start to do while you are in a dream. it will follow you from the waking world to the dream world.

to improve dream recall, you have to keep a dream journal. immediately upon awakening, trust me, write down everything you remember, every detail to the best of your memory, even the feelings you felt and the look of things.

a good technique for beginners is the MILD technique because it works with your motivation to lucid dream. most people do not understand the difference between autosuggestion and MILD. with MILD you can have up to as many lucids in one night as the amount of REM cycles you have as reported by many. with autosuggestion it works in the future remembering to do something at some point in time. to MILD the more motivation you have the better, but with autosuggestion it is the opposite tending not to work when you push for the dream.

to MILD, just state to yourself and really mean it too, "next time i am dreaming, i will remember i'm dreaming." think about purely this until the moment you are unconscious. if you want you can keep a dream scenario or whatever in the back of your mind but dont worry about it at first. just state that to yourself over and over and understand what it means when you say it. if done and you are successful, to me, it will feel that a couple seconds have passed and you open your eyes and the idea of you being in a dream comes right to mind. once you ask yourself the magic question you are lucid.

      hope this helps

actually, this idea doesn't exactly work that well for a lot of people. It works once in a while but isn't consistent at all and doesn't really seem worth it. The only times I reality check are during WBTB and if I see something strange.
Really the only time you need to do reality checks are during WBTB
but I've never really heard of many people besides naturals that can lucid dream consistently on reality checks and dream journals alone

When you do RC's during WBTB, is it to catch FA's?

You naturally wake up multiple times during the night, and then just roll over and go back to sleep. You probably don't notice these awakenings unless you have trained yourself to. You will forget they ever happened, and wake up in the morning thinking you have slept for 8 hours straight.

What you have to do, is cash in on these natural awakenings. Every time you wake up during the night, recognize it, jot down some notes from your dreams, and then MILD or DEILD. That way, you are not cutting into your sleep schedule.

If you practice this for a few days, you will find yourself waking up 3 or 4 times a night with vivid dreams, and multiple chances for MILD to succeed.
