Question WILD when first going to bed

Okay, so i have had hundreds of lucid dreams using RC's and WBTB and the WBTB WILD combo. A long time ago..like last year i tried WILDing a few times at the beginning of the night and was almost successful...like i went into SP and everything, and even started vibrating and shit. I was wondering, does anyone have any experience with WILDing at the beginning of the night? I am certain it is possible, but i dunno it would be nice if anyone else can share if they know if there's any difference...i'm damn tired of getting up in the middle of the night all of the time...

Don't have WILDing experience myself, but I've gotten into SP at the beginning several times now without too much difficulty. From what I hear its definitely possible to dream, its just not as effective because the REM cycles aren't as long. Its also more difficult to get there at that point in the night. Definitely worth a try though, especially since you have all that WILDing experience already. Should come easy to you I would think.

About the moving and falling asleep thing, its all mind control. There are breathing exercises and stuff to help with that. Making a habit of meditating during the day helps too, just takes 5 minutes or so.

The first time I tried WILDing was before I went to bed, I expierenced a big jolt through my body but never was able to enter the dream, I believe it was partly because I was freaked out but also I have heard that it is very difficult to WILD before going to bed because you have not started entering REM sleep in which case dreaming occurs

apparently it can be done...something about REM relapse...and I THINK this has something to do with sleep deprevation. Its not always possible.

it IS always possible, although sleep deprevation sends you directly into the perfect sleeping state to dream right in the beginning. i have been attempting to WILD when i first go to bed for a while now, and have succeeded multiple times. the lucid dreams themselves do not last as long and seem somewhat less vivid, but that first dream can send you into a deeper sleep that comes with more vivid dreams, although u might lose lucidity by that time. i think it is much easier to stay completely conscious when you WILD in the beggining of the night. when i WBTB i end up just realizing im dreaming. i never do a full on WILD exept for in the beggining of the night....

Ive done some meditating in the past in the late afternoon which seemed to help with concentration...What style of meditation are you suggesting exactly? I may just have to give it a try...

Anything that helps with mind control really, I find any meditation without a spiritual aspect to it works. I'm a fan of Zen because its less spiritual and much more worldly. Also I've found that any meditation with the word 'mindfulness' in it is worth checking out, I've heard establishing a good state of mindfulness during the day helps make your dreams more vivid at night.

Either way check out this: http://www.mro.org/zmm/teachings/meditation.php. Ignore all that shit about positions, a chair works fine. The counting from 1 to 10 breaths thing was a good starting point for me cause it gives something very basic for your mind to focus on. Its what I do when getting into sleep paralysis as well. Eventually it becomes easier, I've found the more I keep at it the better I am at keeping my mind awake and ignoring those cues to start moving.

      Close your eyes.
      Lay very still.
      Breathe deep and carefully.
      ..and count..
Feel every part of your body lift.

Works for me everytime. Most importantly focus.

I always try this. I try to WBTB as well but I find it at least have better dream recall if I am so intent on dreaming when I FIRST go to bed. However, I have only gotten past light sleep paralysis. I have felt the jolts.

Side note on the jolts: I will notice that my body will jolt due to motions that are running through my head. For example last night I attempted a wild as I was falling asleep and I had a thought of diving off a rock into water and my arms jolted as if they were trying to go into the diving position - this was completely out of my deliberate control. This type of thing happens regularly for me.

Good luck and let us know if you find some technique that works. If nothing else it is great practice for a WBTB.

SP, body vibrations, body tingling, feeling of floating, weird depth perception, HI; basically every feeling people describe when trying to WILD, I can get all these minutes after I lay down to go to sleep. I've often questioned just what the hell was going on some nights, before I knew anything about LDing. I am very new to even the whole concept of lucid dreaming though, and I havnt ever had a lucid dream. Im still quite fascinated by the whole concept.

When I found out about ludid dreaming and came across this forum, the first thing I thought was why everyone here talked about needing to wake up and go back to bed to feel all the typical WILD feelings. To me its quite normal to easily get these feelings minutes after going to bed each night.

I just need to control my thoughts, and focus my concentration more.

I've gotten to SP when first going to bed, and maybe a couple WILD's too.

I've been trying this out lately. So far I haven't had any success getting into a dream, but I did manange to make it to SP. I find it very difficult unless I'm extremely tired; otherwise I keep myself awake for a while tossing and turning.
