      Stillness method not working

I read about one of the methods mentioned here, that one must lie still, and not move the body at all for twenty minutes or so. This will trick the body into drifting into sleep, while the mind is still awake. I tried this method, but I became extremely bored after 30 mins or so, I quit.

I did experience the following, though. I felt as if my feet had disappeared (meaning there was no solid feeling), and my palms felt a tingling sensation. There were some minor sensations throughout the body, but these two experiences were more pronounced.

Can the experts tell me where I am going wrong, and how I can make adjustments so this technique can work?

Same here. I felt all the loss of feeling. However, I am never able to view any hypnagogic images. I too get bored of it very quickly.

Yeah, I understand how you feel. But I still feel this is a very good method, because it makes sense, and it's not as difficult as doing visualizations and all that. Besides, it helps keep you totally aware, that's why I liked it. But unfortunately, I am making no breakthrough.

Im not an expert but when i try to WILD I focus more onthe sensations of my body than trying to see HI, and it also helps to do a WBTB.

This is a very good tutorial on WILDshttp://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=53577

Same thing happened to me when I tried this technique...

Are you sure you're completely still? If I recall, I believe that your eyes must be still as well. They're probably the trickiest part, perhaps you should focus on something to keep them from wandering.

you should be more patient in your dreaming experiences(i like calling them that. even when u dont end up dreaming.) its not like staying still is THE secret technique that works everytime. you need to work at it, and work with these sensations as your body goes into sleep paralysis. think about deepening your level of relaxation while being a bystander to the sensations you experience as you fall asleep, and just letting nature work its magic sending you into the dream state.

I've adapted the technique slightly, and I find it works much better. What I do is use the technique up until the point where I feel tingly and start to see a bit of HI. Then I let go and fall asleep. So really I used just used the technique to get to sleep faster. BUT, what will often happen is I will wake up about a half hour later. At this point, it is very easy to get to SP.

So I guess I'm cheating, but why not work with the software you already have?

if you feel you cant keep your mind awake, when your eyes are closed, before trying to uber-relax, try doing something that stimulates ur mind, and not body. for instance, work out a math problem. or sometimes what i do is remember everything that has happened to me in the past few days going backwards. that relaxes me too.. for example ill think- i just woke up to try to WBTB WILD. before that i was sleeping for about 6 hours. before that i was on dreamviews. before that i was coming home from the girls house. before that i was gettin some head. hahaha just a thought to try...
