I keep seeing posts with people asking "What do I do during SP? How do I enter a dream?" And I don't understand because when I'm in SP I have two choices: wake up or LD. I couldn't stay in SP if I wanted to or transition into a non-lucid. |

I had difficulty LDing from SP, but I'm not sure that what I experienced was SP.
I had difficulty LDing from SP because I'd wake up during SP within a few minutes.
My SP was usually followed by regular non-lucid sleep/dreams.
I had difficulty getting past SP. I've had difficulty LDing from SP at the beginning of the night.
I had difficulty getting past SP. I've had difficulty LDing from SP after doing WBTB.
I had difficulty getting past SP. I've had difficulty LDing from SP when napping.
I had difficulty getting past SP. This happened anytime I tried to LD from SP.
I've "woken up" to find myself in SP and had difficulty LDing from there.
I've always LDed following SP as long as I don't wake myself up intentionally.

I think the answer is simple. People who are stuck in SP are attempting their WILD without the 4-6 hours pre-sleep. So, even though their body is asleep (in SP), they are going to have difficulty incubating dreams until the REM stage comes along in 5th stage sleep. |

But I most often get SP at the beginning of the night. |

Really? And ddo you often have LDs as well or just get to SP? Are your LDs vivid? Because the most dreams occur during the REM sleep period, which only begins hours after initial sleep. |
|
Yep. Every time I get SP the natural course is to LD. That is, if I don't do anything I'll LD within a minute or so. And yes, they are vivid, highly conscious lucids. Almost always nightmares. |
