I always do a few, because every once in a while a RC will fail (you will breath, your hand will be solid, you will have 5 normal fingers, etc.). So I always do at least 3, usually by looking at my hands, pushing a finger into a palm, and checking the time or some writing. That way you get into the habit of not relying on one, and it really gives you a strong intention to determine whether or not you are in a dream, instead of just doing one habitual RC. Not to mention having to find text/the time makes you more aware of your surroundings. You can also mix up the order of the RCs you do to keep it from becoming a subconscious ritual. |

It depends on your mindset when you do those checks. Before you do them you have to believe you are dreaming like as though you are really dreaming. Then you do the check and it turns out that your not then your not and you return to your normal mindset that your not. |
