      Lay on your back LD's

I have experience SP before, and it always happens in the morning. Here is what my weekend sleep routine is. I go to sleep at about 1 or 130 and set my alarm for 7, 845 and 1030 which is when I finally wake up, but I have always done this, this is not something to help LD. I do this so I dont wake up at whenever it is I have to wake up and say "Damn I have to get up now?!!?" but if you set the alarm an hour or two early you can be like "Oh 2 more hours to sleep yessssss!" (please someone back me up on this, b/c my roomate thinks im crazy). Anyways I thought since I already set my alarms liek this I could use it to help start an LD. Anyways I had one question. When trying to LD do you have to sleep on your back?? b/c the only time I have had SP

(or at least I think its SP, what happens for me is I start to fall asleep and notice im am I feel tingly and start to sink into my bed and I hear what sounds like bed springs being pushed on.......very realistic sound haha, and then I enter a green vortex thing, or just all blackness. then something will scare the hell outa me like an ominous laughing I know im dreaming kinda, but all i see is black or swirly green and then I am unable to open my eyes. THats what really gets me I cant open them no matter how hard I try and it feels as though I am using every muscle in my face, then i start to wiggle my toes then feet and then I can open my eyes and Im out of it. I guess this is SP but everyone I have heard from says they are totally awake and their eyes are open when it happens. Anyone have something similar to mine?? or is this just strange?)

Is when I lay on my back (an unnatural and uncomfortable position for me) i usually sleep on my side. nut I was just wondering is this true for everyone or just me. I just didn't know if you had to be on your back or not.

okay thats alot of Q's, thanks in advance for any replies, John

Well I'll go with the cliche here by saying that everyone is different, and this just happens to be the way you're SP happens, although your particular case doesn't sound very unusual at all; it kinda sounds like the beginning of a WILD.

Well, i'm with you on the alarm thing, i have my alarm set for 6 but i don't actually get up till 7. Knowing you have that extra hour seems to make me happier when i actually do get out of bed.

      We can be crazy together?

Finally someone else who agrees with me on the alarm thing! I go to sleep at 11 p.m. and set the alarm for 4 a.m., 6, and then finally 8:30 before I actually wake up.

As for laying on your back, I hear it helps LD's to be in a different position than you are normally, but damned if it the back position isn't the most uncomfortable one ever... I NEVER sleep like that. I may try it on my side, maybe it'll work for me and you.

Yeah same here. I usually sleep on my my side, so I try to WILD on my back. But yeah thats definitely SP what you went through which means you are VERY close to getting a WILD.

btw I also set my alarm clock to go off 6 hours after I go to bed so I can have extra time to WILD! So your definitely not alone on that!

I'm a restless sleeper and usually sleep on my front but I get a crick in my neck. Lately I've been sleeping on my front so that my neck stops hurting and I've somehow been having more vivid dreams. Maybe it does help with lucidity too.

Well if you were in a hallway talking to somebody, then Im pretty sure that you did have a WILD. My guess is, you probably entered the dream state w/o even realizing it. This is quite common when WILDing, one minute youre thinking about something and the next, youre dreaming about it!

Btw, The weird things you were seeing is Hypnagogic Imagery which occurs before SP.

The only time i was even close to having a WILD i was on my back (i normally sleep on my side).
I do the alarm thing to but only about 30 minutes before i really have to get up.
We are each our own personal god. Never is this more apparent than in our dreams.

Next time set your alarm at least two hours before you have to get up and make sure you get at least 5 to 6 hours of sleep before attempting a WILD.

I hate trying to WILD on my back because it's so uncomfortable that I say, "Well forget that," then I turn to my side and hope for a DILD

But from what I'm hearing, on your back is really the way to go huh?

Yeah, Ive gotten most of my WILDs while on my back although Ive had about two on my side. The thing is, being uncomfortable is somewhat of a good thing when it comes to WILDing (it helps you remain conscious); other than the two WILDs Ive had while on my side, Ive fallen asleep just about every other time on my side b/c I was a little too comfortable.

This statement kind of contradicts itself, but try getting comfortable with being uncomfortable when trying to WILD.

      Me Too :d

Oh my god i totaly agree.. ive set my alarm for 5:30 845 then 11:00 because of the same reason.. high five dude .. and btw, u move around alot in the night, so the chances of you falling asleep on ur back then waking up on your back are not very likely =) but u can use ur alarm times for DEILD, my best technique.. just wake up, ly on ur back and try to re-enter the dream u just came out of.. good luck!

I feel so odd I sleep on my back because that's the only position where I feel comfortable. If I sleep on my side I can't fall asleep but on my back I feel so relaxed.
