      RC time!

      I wanna become a pro at inducing DILD's, and I'm going to it by doing a reality check every 10 minutes. I want to buy a watch that beeps every 10 minutes, and wear it at all times, even at night.
      Do you people think this will help?
      Current projects:
      -Acquire the Aurora
      -Test galatamine, huperzine and choline
      -Find smartwatch app for RC reminders at certain intervals
      -Ressurect my dream log here, and become more active

      Every 10 minutes Jesus Christ. I'm getting a watch that beeps on the hour tomorrow, that should help some. Try autosuggesting also, that can be really helpful.

      I've been doing this myself for quite a while now. Setting a timer for reality checks has helped to keep me doing them often, and I do end up doing random RC's in dreams now and then because of it.

      The fact that your doing lots of RC's is good in that it will help you to remember to do the RC in a dream when you start to think you may be dreaming. Some people say only do them when you see something strange though.

      If you really want to be sure to get results though, the real trick is keeping your mind aware to the fact that you could be dreaming at any time. Constantly be on the alert for anything that seems dream like. because the real goal is to get yourself to think about whether or not your dreaming while in the dream. And since you dream about the things that are on your mind the most. You need to keep the question "is this a dream right now?" On your mind as often as you can.

      here is the possible problem with what you are doing. YOU are not making the decision to RC. This means you are not thinking. Just doing.

      If you don't hear the beep while you sleep, then you will still not be thinking and this will be crap.

      You need to think to RC. What am I doing? Why? Where am I? Is everything in order? Could this be a dream?

      Without analysing, you will probably give 0 thought to the RC and then not dream about it.

      If I do an RC every 10 minutes then I will also be thinking about dreaming etc all the time... That should help.

      You may get some Lucids that way. And maybe you will even dream that your timer goes off and do an RC. (Which is what I've been trying to make happen and had a little bit of results with.) But your still going to need to really put a lot of mental power into it if you want to get a lot of Lucids going. Especially when your first starting out.

      Just try it, and at the same time experiment with staying aware of what your doing and whats going on around you as much as you can, and see what happens. And when your timer goes off try and make sure your not just doing it automatically. Because what James said is absolutely right. If it gets to be too automatic it probably won't get into your dreams.

      I don't rely on the RC's to get me Lucid. I just use them for when I think I could be dreaming and not quite sure. Though it's always nice when you get a random one. I've only actually been using RC's for about a year or so. I've always just used my thoughts to get me Lucid in the past. But since hearing of the nose RC I've been using that regularly in combination with the mental work.

      ya like james said. if it beeps every 10 minutes, it will eventually become jaded and you wont give thought to it, it will become second nature which is the opposite of what you want. and wtf dude, every 10 minutes.... I give you 3 days before you throw that thing out or someone rips you a new one for pulling something like that.

      I used to do that. I couldn't find a watch that beeps every few minutes so I bought and wear two watches that I can set to beeps every 30 minutes. I set one watch to run 15 minutes earlier so that I would get a beep every 15 minutes. I also do a RC whenever I open or close a door. And whenever I see another person. The point is do as much and think as much about LD as you can in the morning. Don't worry...it works!!!

      Well, last night I dreamed of my RC timer going off, and did a reality check. But I ended up messing up the RC. So I missed out on the perfect opportunity to get an RC timer Lucid.

      Adraw, sometimes I actually do try to stay aware of the exact point the timer will go off.

      I second the importance of critical thinking, as many already said it's not so much the actual RC (i.e plugging your nose) that's important but to really question your surrondings and reality. I've only tried to induce DILD's and I find that I often just become lucid by thinking in a dream "is this a dream", the RC itself becomes redundant. But RC's do actualy help, as you turn them in to a habit, as a reminder to keeping a critical approch to your reality.

      So I think your idea is good as long as you do the RC's properly! The menal bit and being critical is crucial!
