My Plan to attain a Lucid Dream

Okay so here it goes please tell me if this will work???

      Day 1 Monday:
I will try to do a reality check every hour. Start a dream journal.
Also before I go to bed I will focus on imagining what I want to dream about.

      Day 2 Tuesday:
Once again reality check every hour. Still Dream Journal. Once again focusing on what I will dream about. This time I will try out a the Mantra: I will wake up after every dream I have! Hoping to try out a WBTB

      Day 3 Wednesday:
      Same as day 2

      Day 4 Thursday:
This time I will up the reality checks to every half hour and a couple at random. Dream Journal of course. Mantra. But I will also include writing 1234 on my hand and looking at it. Also dream focus.

      Day 5 Friday:
      Same as Day 4

      Day 6 Saturday:
      Same as Day 5
But adding RILD(reward induced lucid dream) by giving myself charleston chews if I do it.

      Day 7 Sunday:
Everything also I will add thinking about it at all times just to see if it helps?

Well Thats my plan. The goal of telling you this is that you can tell me flaws so I can fix it.

Forget it. Won't work at all. You are overthinking this. The subconsious doesn't like adhering to itineraries.

You really want to lucid dream? Do this:
      1) Start a dream journal.

      2) USE the dream journal

      3) Observe and think about your dreams. Look for some good dream signs. No, you don't know what they are ahead of time; you have to learn them.

      4) Do reality checks for those dream signs, but not very often (more than a few times a day is HUGE OVERKILL and will impede progress immensely). Quality over quantity.

      5) Dispense will all the weird techniques. You'll find that a lot of them either overlap or conflict. Here's what your nightly routine should be: Go to bed, do some quick autosuggestion and tell yourself to remember your dreams and remember that you're dreaming. DO NOT DO A MANTRA, this removes all meaning of the words. Go to sleep. DO NOT WILD. Wake up after 5-7 hours, and get out of bed. Take this opportunity to do a RC. Go back to bed. Try a WILD. If it doesn't work after a half hour, just go to sleep. From this point forward, try to do a DEILD every time you wake up. If you miss the DEILD, try a WILD if you can afford to lose the sleep. Continue this until it's time to get out of bed.

This routine will give you lots of opportunities to get into a lucid. You'll have a DILD opportunity in every dream, as well as a good WILD and up to a few good DEILD chances.

But here's the most important thing, and the biggest flaw with your little plan: Do not expect a lucid dream, ever. As soon as you start to expect them, you stop having them. Don't get frustrated if you go to bed and immediately wake up the next morning without remembering anything in between. These things happen to everyone, even "experienced" dreamers.

I'm sorry for being so harsh but you really need to understand that drawing up a schedule is wrong and will never work.

EDIT: You can find DILD, WILD, DEILD tutorials in the tutorial section. And the reason you don't WILD when you first go to bed is that unless you're a yoga master, WILDing at this time will probably ruin your entire night of sleep. Your sleep will be light and unsatisfying.

Yeah, on the reality check thing, it would be real hard to do one every hour, and it wouldn't matter anyways. Instead, you might want to pretend that you could be dreaming when you're awake, and look for dream signs, or anything that looks odd or dreamy. If you find one, do a reality check.

I also recommend taking naps if you can.
