A reason why some LD tech's may fail

I woke up after a dream this morning and decided to use a mantra that said I would realize when I was dreaming. I watched the imagery in my head, and I could see a dream forming. I was imagining myself touching things in my house, which always helps me have an LD, and then out of nowhere my friend was there, and we started talking, and he told me to go in my basement to check on my dog. I wasn't aware that it was a dream, the last thing I was aware of was me touching the floor in my kitchen. So once I went downstairs I realized that it was a dream. However, since the dream was just created a few seconds ago and not strong, when I realized that I came out of the small sleep I was in and didn't become lucid; instead I went right back to visualizing me touching things in my house. It was almost like a daydream, and when you realize you're daydreaming you come back to reality, only it was an actual dream.

So the I realized that its not good enough to realize your dreaming when the dream starts. Instead you have to realize your dreaming a couple of minutes into the dream, when it stabilizes! So now instead of using the mantra "I will realize I'm dreaming", I think I'm going to use "I will realize I'm dreaming half way through my dream". Has anyone else ever thought of this before, I think it will drastically increase my chances of having an LD in the morning

Wow that's amazing, i wish i can do what you do in the since of visualizing, because i don't see pictures in my head. The pictures that i can make are invisible like ones. You have a great gift.

I have that problem sometimes...where I dream for a few seconds and then all of the sudden I wake up again and only a few minutes have passed.

Not really, you can train yourself to get to a level where you can recognized that you are dreaming at the very instant that you begin to dream.
Usually you hear and felt a strong vibration throughout your body then you are transport to somekind of dream scenario or you will be laying in your dream body. In the latter case you just get up from your physical body and walk around. Some folks would call this OOBE (out-of-body-experience) but they don't know that they are already in a dream in order to do this. Different terminology...dream body...astral body...all the same to me. But you have to catch yourself at the very beginning of a dream inorder to experience this. But sometime you will experience the same thing at the very end of the dream where your dream body came back to your physical body. It usually happened when your are tired and sleep deprived.

yeah, this is what you're supposed to train yourself to do when doing WILD. Not exactly to realize it halfway through the dream, but to be able to keep your thoughts passive yet focused until your dream is stable enough for you to control.
