      Angry How's a reality check supposed to work?

      I was thinking about my dreams and my waking life this morning and it occurred to me that almost nothing that happens in my waking life happens in my dreams.

      My dreams are full of people I haven't seen in a long time (old school-mates and such) and celebrities. They're always filled with adventures and magic and strangeness.

      In contrast my waking life is pretty routine. I do mostly the same things every day with a little variation throughout the week.

      So, I was wondering, when am I supposed to do a reality check when nothing dream like ever happens? I just do random RC's because of this and I think this could be why my lucidity is almost nil.

      Maybe this is my subconscious mind telling me to stop being so boring!! Well, if that's the case, my subconscious should give me as much energy as I have in dreams!!!!!

      Its not about 'doing reality checks'. Its about being aware.

      Being aware of how you currently feel and being aware of the world around you. Learn to be aware permanently. That means being concious all the time. It difficult, yet so easy and natural.

      Reality checks are to be used when your awareness thinks, "Hey wait a minute..that doesn't seems right".

      These are a few examples of when i do reality checks;

      - When I think about dreaming.
      - When someone mentions dreaming or sleep
      - When something makes me jump, or shocks me.
      - When something makes me go... 0_o?
      - And everytime i wake up.

      Dizko is right, reality checks are not just a simple physical act, they are on a whole psychological level as well.

      The times at which Dizko shows in the above list to use a reality check are pretty sound. You may also wish to add some of your own to make it more personal. I personaly have added "whenever im day dreaming, i usualy reset my day dream to a point to replay it" and this has happened in dreams so i have added this to my reality check list.

      But you really must think about the reasoning behind why you are reality checking. Are you doing it to simply tick a box in the lucid dreaming checklist? if so youre going about it all wrong. really get down and dirty and think about what is happeneing around you and whther it could be reality or a dream. Hopefully after getting into this habbit you will start performing it most times you dream, therefore leading to more lucidty =D

      Good luck =P
