I'm too wrapped up one track mind

Now i manage to have at least 1 or two lucid dreams, but most of the time I have dreams that i don't want to have. Every night i say silently in my head that i will lucid dream tonight over and over. But when i start dreaming, i get too wrapped up in my dreams and i loose control. Is there any way that I can dream about anything thing i want? I also have a one tracked mind, when the dream gets started for example, i may have a dream about walking home in my old neighborhood and my mind isn't focused on getting lucid, its focused on just walking home. I just want to be able to have the kind of lucid dream that i want instead of dreaming about things that i don't want. And how do you remember to do an rc in a dream, i always forget to do one. During the day i just started doing rcs, but when i fall asleep and start dreaming i forget to do them. So my two questions basically are 1, how can i stop having a one track mind in my dreams and become lucid? And 2, how can i remember to do an rc in a dream.

There was once a topic on this forum actually I do believe they both came in the form of responses to someones topic anyways I digress. The jist of what these two members were saying however is that there are certain levels of "awareness" that we have while we are in a dream.

You see in some dreams your chances of becoming lucid are literally nothing while in some other dreams your "awareness" may be considerably high increasing your chances of obtaining a lucid dream.

In case you are not understanding what I am saying I will give you an example.
You start your dream of walking down a street while walking you see a car explode and the flames turn into butterflies and fly away into the sky.

Now depending on your level of "awareness" if it was low you would simply walk by the car without thinking anything strange at all had happened. Thus since you are not questioning much the chances of you obtaining lucidity are very very low.

HOWEVER if when the car exploded you payed attention and thought that it was very odd that a car would explode and the flames would turn into butterflies. If this was your current mind state you would have a much higher chance of obtaining lucidity because you are questioning what is going on around you.

And last if you were in the highest state of "awareness" when this situation occurred you would most likely recognize that the event was far to strange to be able to happen and automatically obtain lucidity at that moment.

I do hope that this helped and that you understood.

      1) You'll always have a one tracked mind in dreams because you cannot expect the mind to be the same as in reality, it's an almost blank slate with only bare instincts and vague memories. 2) One good way to RC in a dream is to RC in bed until you fall asleep.
