Have you gone through the basics yet?
Have you kept a dream journal for at least 2-3 weeks?
Have you told yourself you will wake up after dreaming and record them?

      List goes on....

Some nights you may not sleep as well as others, making it hard to remember anything. Sometimes I remember dreams in full detail, other times it's nothing more than a jumble of fragments. Sometimes it's four dreams, other times it's just pieces of one.

A week isn't very long. You should make this second nature to you, or as close as it can be. Keep it up and see if your memory gets better. :]

Once you get the hang of remembering dreams, you'll be able to recognize when you're in a dream state which will pave the way to LDs. Be patient, these things take time. You have to master the basics first.

If I might help a little:

Dont use your Dream journal only for writing down your dreams, becouse as you mentioned there are nights where you dont remember anything. Use your dream journal to write down your progress, your thoughts, observations, even that you didnt have a dream. The key is to write something related down every day. And believe me you dont have to write a lot. Sometimes one or two sentences are enough

This happens to me some time. I remember a lot one night, and the next I can't read my notes in my notebook by my bed and I just can't remember any dreams.
      So you aren't alone.

With enough work I think we will both be able to remember many dreams a night regularly. Just have to keep it up.

Thanks, I've been improving a lot too. But I still have my off nights when I am too apathetic to roll over in bed and write a dream down and then I forget it in the morning. Last night was like that...ugh.

Keep us informed on how you do!
