      Reality check prob.

Is it possible to do the same RC for so long that you stop paying attention to your results. I ask because I had a false awakening the other day and remember looking at my hand, which I had written "THE" on to do the changing text reality check, but I completely disregarded th results. I think this is either from how fast I check my reality or that I truly don't believe that it will work so I assume if I'm checking, I'm awake. Has this happened to anyone else, and if it has how did you fix it?

Most of the time, when I reality check in the dream, I become lucid. 90% of the time, about. I think it has to do with attentiveness in real life, and reminders before sleep. Really think about your reality check every time you perform it. Think how it would behave in a dream, and how that's different from how it acts when you are awake. Think about what it means for the reality check to be different from usual. And before you go to bed, with the intention of lucid dreaming, go over different scenarios in your head where you reality check, it performs oddly, and you realize you are dreaming.

      Good luck! Think critically!

my opinion... just do the nose plug reality check. it's sure fire to work every time without fail, only takes a split second, and doesn't require text to be manipulated. i've had a lot fewer problems since i switched to that one. obviously, you can always stabilize once you've become lucid.

and by the way, if anyone is wondering why i'm posting so late (3:30 AM on the east coast), i'm in the middle of a WBTB session.

Fleeee1, you can't be sure that plug-the-nose will allways work. It might just work in your dream aswell. I suggest adding few more checks, just to be sure, like pluging your ear or quick text check. (what's ever near)

Repetition of anything opens the door to unawareness.

In your case, you seem to be just be sleepy in your attention. Keen insight stems from awareness.
If you clearly define what should be and what should not be, it will help with the recognition, but you must be careful and understand that the reality check is the room you must walk through to get to the window. Once you are out, you must leave the room behind.
Definitions can be damaging to lucidity, so once you are lucid drop them, and when you are not lucid, use them understanding they are a means.

Reality checks should be done with heightened awareness, just be totally aware when you are doing a reality check and that awareness will become habitual. Be undivided in your attention, and realise what should be and what should not be. Pay attention to definition but don't get lost in it.

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
