      Angry Grrrrrrr!!!!

How long have I been here? Just over a month? Still no lucids, but last night I should have been!

I was dreaming of holding a human baby, but the baby was a tenth the size of a normal baby and looked nothing like a human....this one had fangs! I was being careful to not let it bite me, and in the process, I noticed my hands looked yellow and funny (my fingers, really).

Now, at this point, I should have said to myself, "Funny looking yellow hands? Hey, I'm dreaming!" But instead, I figured my hands looked like that because I was holding the baby and was nervous. WHY CAN'T I FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!! Does this happen to others?

yep, i see and do weird things in my dreams, and never realise im dreaming, i dont think any of my lucid dreams started because of dream signs. i think you should find a better technique.

Hey sweetie, don't stress. You will have a LD. I promise!!!

Now I know you don't like reading long posts but please read this one because I'm sure it will help you! I'm also sure you will have a LD very very soon. It sounds to me like you're getting close!

Even an experienced LDer can occasionally miss the most obvious dream signs. I've sometimes gone to bed with the intention of LDing, then I go ahead and dream that it's the next day and I'm talking to someone about how I didn't get lucid last night and I'm so disappointed about it! Let me tell you, waking up from that redefines frustration!!! It's something you have to get used to I'm afraid. I missed some cues just last night. Hows this: I spent $250 on a watch yesterday with a whole lot of special functions in the hopes of improving my LD chances. Then last night I dreamed about the watch and didn't become lucid! Lol!

Crossing the barrier from normal to lucid dreaming can take time. If it was easy and came naturally then everyone would do it and it would be a normal part of human life. But so long as you keep at it you will eventually succeed, and it will be so worth it! You are still within the average time range that it takes to have a first LD so hang in there.

In my personal opinion, the fact that you were looking at your hands in a dream is actually a positive sign. I believe it indicates that you subconscious is trying to help you. I have some theories which I won't go into here, but I do believe it takes some co-operation on the part of your subconscious and that this takes time for your subconscious to sort out how to do.

Did you try the WILD technique? Or MILD? Are you doing WBTB? Are you putting in effort to recall and record your dreams? Are you programming yourself to do RCs during the day whenever something strange or coincidental occurs? Are you regularly assessing how well you are doing your RCs? You need to look back over the day and consider whether there were any events you missed where you should have done an RC. A few weeks ago my vacuum cleaner wouldn't work in RL and I meddled with it for a good 5 minutes before I thought to do a RC. I gave myself a stern telling off for that because a malfunctioning appliance is one of the most classic dream signs of all time!

Just wanting and wishing isn't enough. You have to put in mental effort.

Let us know how you go... and do a Reality Check NOW!

You should be cheered. I'd say you failed this RC, but just the fact that you performed a RC is a good progress. Just keep it up, and you'll be lucid dreaming in no time. Trust me, after the first LD, even if it only lasts few seconds (like mine) you'll be so happy and exited...

Thanks DreamQueen! I suppose the one area I fail at is RCs during the day. It's funny you should mention the watch...I too, bought a watch about two weeks ago. Now, everytime it beeps on the hour, I look at it, study it, and look back at it a few moments later. The watch also has a built in receiver which automatically keeps in time with Atomic timing. And when a recieving signal is in procress (which can be manually performed) the screen shows "RC"! How's that for an RC!

Anyway, I keep a regular and faithful DJ at home on MS Word. I used to keep one here, but I find it easier to keep one offline. I am remembering 1-2 dreams per night. I haven't had ANY success with WILDs. Most of my 'success' has been with MILDs. I say 'success' because I've come closest to lucidity through MILD.

And, Yoavwein...unfortunately it wasn't a RC in the dream. I was holding this 'baby' and I happened to notice my hands. Wasn't a conscious effort. But thanks everyone for all the positive feedback!

have you ever tryed a DEILD, they are kind of easy-ish.
they are easy to do, but you need to either have the time to do it, or the skill to be able to train yourself to wake up early without an alarm clock.
so its probably best to have a day which you dont need to get up to do something, so you can just fall asleep.

      good luck

Tried doing different RCs during the day? I first ask my self "am I dreaming?" then I look at my hands and then I do a nose check. In my dreams I will eighter start with my hands or my nose and if one doesn't fail I will try the other one too. A bullet proof system.

That's great. Just make sure when the hourly chime goes off you do your RC then ask yourself how many RCs you've been doing of your own volition. Those are the RCs that matter most towards getting you lucid. You need to train yourself to be on the constant lookout for anything 'dreamlike'. Yesterday I was in a store and the credit machine was playing up and kept saying "Bad Read". I must have swiped it four times before I thought to do a RC which IMO is not quick enough.

As well as the hourly chime I have also set my watch to alarm five times throughout the day and when the alarm goes off I do an RC and then spend a few minutes recalling and thinking about my 15 dream signs so they are firmly entrenched in my mind.

I love my watch so so much! It's gorgeous! I've heard of that atomic clock function. I wish it had that but I don't think it works in NZ Mine has so many cool features though including a wicked orange light that I use as a RC...

The bottom pic is of me pressing the light button in my wardrobe! God I'm obsessed lol!

maybe lucid dream is just an another dream simulation.can't be?
is there any proof that we are fully conscious in lucid dreams?

Yes there is. Stephen LaBerge conducted an experiment where subjects with brainwave monitors attached were able to consciously signal preset eye movement patterns whilst in REM sleep.

Anyone who has had a LD knows there is a distinct difference to an ordinary dream. There is no difference in your level of consciousness to when you are awake. I've talked to many of my friends, colleagues and aquaintances about LD and a few of them can't grasp the concept but once you've experienced it there's no mistaking it. The feeling is exhilarating beyond words.

I feel the frustration as I too have the same problem every night, yet still no lucids. But I feel there is a mental barrier to break because my life is too anchored to reality, so I'll probablytry that see if it works.

Don't feel too bad. I had several close calls within the first few months, but it took me just over five months to have a real LD. Keep doing your exercises and make sure lucid dreaming is constantly on your mind, and eventually it'll happen.
