First attempt at WILD - thoughts

      Hi,

I tried WILD for the first time last night. Im new to the technique and would appreciate your thoughts.

Took some supplements before bed at 12:00am. Set my alarm for 4:45am. Woke, felt really sleepy and spacey I think from the Melotonine and 5-HTP.

Spent 30 mins making a siglil - based on the statement of intent "This my will to lucid dream" (for those who dont know what Im talking about then Sigils are a way to program your subconcious - you write a statement of intent and then craft the letters into a glyph - you then "burn" this glyph into your subconcious).

Took L-Glutermine, Choline and Theanine washed down with a cup of Mugwort tea. at 5:20. Then performed a ritual to charge and activate the sigil and went back to bed.

I used auto hypnosis to relax my body and send it to sleep. Usual stuff - starting at the feet and then working upwards. Got a really good trance going - could not feel my body at all. Then started focusing on keeping my mind active by counting slowly upwards and after each number thinking "I am a lucid dreamer".

While counting I kept slipping into dreams - each would last for a second or two and as I tried to focus on the dream it would end. Also had plenty of stong visuals and the occasion loud thumping noise. MAybe I was trying too hard? Kept at it and soon I had a vivid dream of being in my kitchen. I was lucid and started to walk. Was really odd - I could "feel" my self walking but at the same time I knew I was lying motionless in bed. This "dreamette" lasted about 5-10 seconds when I again snapped back.

Then I had a set back. I swallowed involuntary - really hard - it took me totaly by surprise - I think my trance state was deep enough that I didnt know I needed to swallow. I changed the position of my head as per some advice I read on a thread here and went at it again.

Then diaster - my wife rolled over in bed and threw her arm over me - which broke the trance.

I decided that the "walking" experience was not bad for a first try at WILD and so rolled over onto my side and did a little MILD affirmations to see if I could still get a nice LD from this method.

This was cool as I had a full OOBE/AP event. I woke from a dream into the Hypnogogic state - strong vibrations and odd noises - oddly I normally let this state develop until its almost fever pitch but this time it came on so quickly that I had no problems rolling out after only a few seconds. I have OOBE/AP'd before and so knew what it was. I thought "I will now leave my body" and rose up into the bedroom. I felt much calmer than usual - and lingered for a while enjoying the sight of my wife and I lying in bed. I then thought "up" and slowly drifted up through the ceiling, through the attic and into the night. I then flew a couple of miles to another sub division and decided to land on a path in the park. I had been intrigued by the "walking dream" and decided to see if its possible to "walk" rather than float/fly when OOB. Walking was really odd - kind of like trying to walk in a swimming pool, then tried to run - which felt even odder. This was also a problem as it caused me to snap back - I think the intensity of the activity did this some how.

Here's where I would like your advice. During WILD each time a dream started (and I was lucid each time) the minute I tried to focus on letting the dream run or go off and do something I got to excited and it collapsed. Is there any good techiques for solidifying the dream in those few seconds without losing it? Maybe I was just too excited and will try to chill out a little next time. Its like I was on the threshold each time but couldnt quite cross.

On the whole I am very pleased with this - I had mulitple "mini" LD's - just couldnt keep them from collapsing. Was of course very pleased with the OOBE also.

Thanks for reading and please post your thoughts and POV's

you can stabalize it, by rubbing your hands together and/or shouting "increace lucidity"

and when you feel that exitement coming on, just take deap breaths and calm yourself, and just have a slow look around your dream world. then when you have done that, go off and do some fun stuff. e.g. flying (although i couldnt help myself, i flew straight away)

IMO, WILD and OOBE/APs are the same thing. Had you realized that the OOBE was a dream, you would have just WILDed. That's up for personal interpretation though, but I'd say you have already answered your own questions! Either way, sounds like a very productive night. Congrats!

Also, technically if you woke up into the state they were hypnopompic hallucinations. Hypnagogic precedes sleep, hypnopompic follows it.
