Thumbs down Lucid every night but...

Hey guys, I have finally perfected my wild technique to become lucid at least once a night. My problem is that they are very short- less than a min-. I have tried rubbing my hands, licking my hands, concentration on an object, and screaming clarity now. I should probably tell you how I get lucid.

I set my alarm to 4:30 am. Once it goes off I drink water or go to the bathroom if I need to. I will then lay down until I know I am close to falling asleep. I don't get SP or feel vibrations or anything big like that. What I do feel is a gust of wind near my ears. Once this happens I know its safe to do a RC and open my eyes. If I don't hear the gust of wind and I think I may be in able to RC ill shoot my hands into the air and try to grab air. If I feel my dream hands moving I know its a dream and I can continue on.

100% of my lucids when I do this method start with me laying in my bed in my room. Sometimes there are wacky things- last night there was a big husky outside my door and the lucid before that there was a woman walking up my stairs- but normally its just like my house. The problem for me is waking up too early. I can get as far as my house and walk around a bit, but I will wake up shortly. Once the lucid is over I can chain it to another lucid by not moving when the dream ends. I then imagine rubbing my hands together until it feels real. Then I know the dream has started.

I feel like my whole night is one big adventure of 1 min lucids lol (I can have like 10 of these a night)
Any ideas on how I can stay in the dream longer?

What you are having is a string of False Awakenings. This is a common experience for LDers. It is also common for FAs to be short. Mine also average one minute in length and also often involve hearing people walking up my stairs, into my room etc. I think your problem could be that your brain has finished its REM. I don't know what time you are going to bed but if you are waking up at 4.30am every morning then your brain is getting into the routine of that being your normal wake-up time. I'm thinking you would find the CAT method very helpful. You obviously have good WILD skills but you need to be doing a WILD when your brain still has some dreaming to do so that when you become lucid it is in a proper dream and not just a few measly FAs.

Do you feel like you are completely in the dream? It sounds to me like you may still be just barely on the cusp of a dream, still in some hypnagogic hallucinations.

If you can do this every night, keep practicing. It may just take you some time to find a way of really attaching yourself to the dream.

Some dreams are more complete than others. I have some that feel like I am barley hanging onto it, but some are super vivid and real.

DreamQueen may be right. Your timing is probably a little off. If you're catching the tail end of a REM cycle. Try sliding your whole WBTB back about 15 minutes. See if that helps.
