Hemi-Sync, very painful attempt, could use some advice

I used to listen to Hemi-Sync audio tracks, the "lucid dreaming series" before, but always in my bed. I didn't have any real success with it it, besides the fact that it put me in SP several times.

Anyway, I wanted to give Hemi-Sync another shot, this time with more patience. I decided not to rush to the 2nd audio before I really master the 1st one and get to some level of lucidity, doesn't matter how poor.

So, today, for a change, I tried using it sitting on my new comfortable chair in order to improve my awareness.
The audio started... I relaxed completely using the 10 point relaxation technique from the track. But after a while I felt very strong and sharp pain somewhere on the back of my head, it felt like it was on the very back of the occipital lobe and my brain was pulsating, which has never happened before.

My mother's stampede into the room woke me up... although I always ask her politely not to wake me up... she'll never learn... ah, mothers.

Anyway... as soon as I woke up, the pain disappeared and (after I yelled at my mother) I wanted to try it again. It was almost the same at the beginning, except this time it was easier to relax my body. Again... the pain kicked in. I tried to ignore it, I counted to 100 up and down many times (usually with the rhythm of my heartbeat... my brain was pulsating heavily)... found a word for each letter of the alphabet... I was trying to distract my thoughts from the pain, but it got to the point where it was just excruciating.

It was really a long fight, not to mention the occasional swallowing which hurt my throat (never happened before either) because it was paralysed. At the end I just let the thoughts "pass through me" and I was more or less clear of all thoughts, but the pain was still there, it was the only thing on my mind and that probably amplified it... I can't describe the magnitude of the pain... it was a real torture. Finally, I gave in and moved my body... the pain stopped the very second I moved...

I only experienced similar pain in my toes several times while lying down, but not as half as painful and unbearable as this.

      So... I have some questions...

Does this sound familiar to anyone, the pain ? How to get rid of it if it happens again ?

Does anybody have any positive experience with the Hemi-Sync binaural beats at all ? Can it actually help ?

Believe you can or believe you can't... either way, you're right.

I bought the Meditation Hemi-Sync CD, been using it for several days, it seems to help me relax faster. I've had OBE's from a trance state before so this is what I'm trying for. However so far I have been usually falling asleep. I did see some HI images once, and have seen a few flashes of light.

However it does make my head feel weird. My brain feels kind of numb after I turn off the CD, and I feel a little disoriented for a while. So they definetly seem to mess with your brain, I haven't felt any pain though, and I still think they can help lucids, especially WILDs or OBEs.

Yes, that feeling of mind numbness is the only reason why I think Hemi-Sync could really help.

Did you have a headache or something before you started? Ive had the head throbbing feeling before too, but its because when I listen to the tape it stimulates what people call the third eye region. If you believe in chakras, which I dont personally, it could be the crown region becomming active. You could have also had the volume up too loud which could have made your head hurt.

Ive had some success with the Hemi-Sync tapes, but it only helped me to recognize the signs of trance and be able to relax faster. I dont think they will make you lucid dream or astral project though if thats what your asking. They are only a tool to condition your mind to reach sp faster which is the precursor to lucid dreaming and astral projection. Think of them more like training wheels on a bike. Eventually you will get to the point where you dont need them and should be able to do it on your own.

The pain wasn't real as I already mentioned before. I didn't have a headache. I was using my studio headphones which were maybe a little bit louder and they also have a wide frequency response, but I don't think that could cause the "imaginary" pain.

Concerning "the third eye", you may or you may not believe in chakras but the pineal gland is real and many think that it actually is "the third eye chakra". That reminded me... I was trying to stimulate it by concentrating on the space between the eyebrows, but I think it only amplified the pain. On the other hand, it could have just been a placebo effect.

Yes, I know they won't "give me free lucids", nothing does. As you said, they're only my training wheels.

If the head pain wasnt real, then what is there to worry about? Take some imaginary vicodin and keep trucking.

Please don't post in old threads, especially when OP was not online for a good while. It's considered necroposting, it's better to create a new thread in those cases.
