      I have a quick question...

Last night was the first night that I tried to have lucid dreams. I set my alarm clock to 4:17 a.m. in hopes that I'd wake up from a dream and remember it. Anyway, when I woke up it must have been from REM sleep because my right arm was paralyzed (this has happened before).

My question is, Am I off to a good start?

Paralized may not be REM but earlier stages or after you REM. If it was REM you would remember some traces of dreaming. But you are close to hit SP so it's a matter of tweaking it later or earlier by say 10 min.
