      Lightbulb Body positions?

      Weird thing i noticed and wanted to know if it happened to anybody else:

      In DILDs, it doesnt matter what position I go to sleep in.

      But when I (try to) WILD, I get so much closer if (a) None of my arms or legs are touching, and (b) I am laying flat on my back. By "much closer," I mean that I'm still awake, but I see weird color lights, and if I focus hard enough, I can make my bed feel like its rocking back and forth. I can also control this rocking. It's probably important to note that WILDing is my goal because it is reliable...you dont have to wait until morning to know for sure if it worked.

      My question is, does/can sleeping position matter? Is there a way I can get to this stage or further in WILDs without sleeping (uncomfortably) flat on my back with my arms and legs extended?

      Also, what does this stage indicate about my progress in WILDs, am I nowhere close, very close, halfway...?

      Sleeping position only affects your WILDing if you are not comfortable in them. The importance of sleeping position in trying to WILD is to try to get you in a state of being where distractions such as the urge to move, swallow, scratch yourself, look around the room, or do other things are minimized as best as possible. However you are comfortable and have the least amount of distractions when trying to WILD, that would be the best advised sleeping position you should take when trying to do so.

      For years I tried to attempt OOBE/WILD laying on my back and couldn't get much further then you. I just didn't come across different position for it. When switched into laying on side ( after too many years ) I had an instant LD ( with a help from supplements though ). Laying on back makes me too alerted and I can't go deeper unlike with side one.
      Good that you can get to that point. It means you can keep focused which is more difficult while on side.
      That is just my experience. Many people WILD successfuly on back.

      iv got to SP with HI etc on my back, as you say, i can make it feel like my bed is spinning/barrel-rolling/doing backflips/rocking - but i havn't progressed any further than this.
      however, i find it really difficult to concentrate when im on my side. like, subconsciously, i'm not taking it seriously or something? i end up counting to about 25 and then my mind wanders, where as on my back i can keep counting & counting.

      i got past "1000, I am Dreaming" whilst laying on my back the other night because i felt like nothing was happening

      I have the same problem but I am working on my concentration. I will stay awaken longer after 4-5h of sleep or do other tricks to enhance it. Generally I see same space for imrovement and possibility to make it work unlike laying on back wchich leads to nowhere for me.
      There is a third way - position half back/half side. It joins advantages of both. I usually slide a bedsheet beneath right or left half of me from the arm to leg and direct the head diagonally. I had one LD from it.

      I can't manage to even fall asleep if I lay on my back unless I'm REALLY tierd and haven't slept for a long time. But somehow I always wake up on my back.

      When I tried to WILD before I always got further with laying on my side than my back.

      i have fallen asleep half-front/half-side (my torso is kid of at a 30degree angle from my bed, and my right arm is under pillow beneath my head, and my left arm up near my face, with my legs kinda 'recovery position') every night for as far into the last 23 years as i can remember. but i started to try to WILD on my back and now the idea of doing it in any other position seems foreign haha, i will try supporting one side of my body tho, maybe it'll create a nice balance between my natural sleeping position and "my" WILD position

      Just about half-back/half-side. very important to keep the head diagonally - between up and side. Actually the purpose of turning of the body is to enable it.

      It really doesn't matter which way you lay. The main thing is to lay in a position that will enable you to fall asleep while keeping some consciousness

      I personally can never WILD on my back simply because I can never get comfortable enough. My elbow always hurts for some reason - maybe I use too many pillows or something

      I think most people just recommend lying on your back because it puts less pressure on your limbs than other positions and thus it's easier to maintain for longer periods of time without needing to shift your weight around.

      If you can get (and stay) comfortable in some other position, you should definitely try it!

      Well, as for principles you are right but...
      I wish it could be so simple but unfortunately ( or fortunately? ) it's not. From my and other people's experience it is clear that laying on side reduces your awareness thus it's easier to sink into a dream but at the same time it's easier to loose consciousness. Laying on back has opposite characteristics - easier to focus, more difficult to sink into a dream.

      Its different for everyone. Some people lose awareness faster laying on their backs or stomach.
