You can lay in any position but I find the back the easiest
I breathe through my nose only because my breath smells horirble in the morning. I breathe automatically though.
      Hands are to my side.
Feet .. I don't really know. How ever they are comfortable.
I have yet to do it with music ( I use my headphones as ear plugs though. )
I kind of look like a mummy with a headphones and sometimes a sleep mask!

I wake up naturally at 5:45. I get up, put my head phones in and lay still in my mummy position.

I forget about my body and my ear starts to ring (your ears won't ring.. they might but I doubt it) so I know I am close. I visualize things like a V-WILD. Soon the image gets quite vivid and in my face and I think I fail... It is just a False Awakening and I always tell myself no I am not dreaming I failed because I can hear the TV... ALWAYS DO A REALITY CHECK

You try it at very hard times!

Set your alarm for 5-6 hours or so after you fall asleep.

If you are in SP beware of hallucinations They won't bite.

      put it in a sock?
I mean that you SHOULD be sleep deprived, you SHOULD be stressed, and you SHOULD be under a lot of anxiety. Besides the whole 'keep yourself awake' deal that's the only way I think it would happen. Unless you get one of those freak occurrences.

I put it on my my night stand. No one has said anything. Just be quick to turn it off. If they wake up they will not know why they woke up. Or you can put it in your sock if you wear socks to bed like Shift said, I cannot do it on mine because the enV2 sucks.

Also, if you can remember yourself waking up, You can see when you're REM is. It probably won't work without being REM.. It will be too hard

Hey, they think that some of the causes of ISP are sleep deprivation, stress, and anxiety. Who am I to argue. No idea why someone would want SP. But there you go.

Hi! Sorry you're having trouble with SP, i thought I might answer your questions and hopefully help you out a bit ^.^

      1. I always lay on my back. For me it's easier to breathe that way, which makes me
more comfortable, and comfort is important since you obviously can't move.
      2. I breathe through my nose. I could breathe through my mouth if I wanted to I guess,
but it feels more natural through the nose.
      3. My hands go by my sides.
      4. I lay my legs straight out, and my feet are parallel to the bed.
      5. Straight up. If my eyes were open, they'd be looking at the ceiling.
      6. I don't listen to music, it stops me from focusing as much as I should be on
transitioning from a waking state to the dream.
      7. The only extra steps I take are ones that will keep my mind conscious. Counting
backwards, focusing on the HI, i just try to stay focused.

Ps, I try to WILD when I'm VERY tired, not just when I want to take a nap or it's time for me to go to bed. If I'm not that tired, I'll get bored of focusing and eventually just fall asleep.

Haha this is ridiculous. I suppose the OP's talking about attempting WILD?

This is just my ¢2, but I have found that SP has come on MUCH faster during my WILD attempts if I am very tired, as everyone else says. I hadn't known this before so I was trying at all weird times, then one night, I was trying a WILD and SP came on in about 5 minutes. I'm attributing that to my being exhausted.

Try DEILD. Oh, and my take on your sig:

You say KATY PERRY-I say COLDPLAY
You say RAP--I say GOOD MUSIC
      You say I'M WEIRD--I say I KNOW?
99.99999% of teenagers population has no taste in MUSIC.
IF YOU are part of the 0.0001% that still have any taste at all then, copy and paste this into your sig.

I love DEILD! SP is pwnage!

      1. do you lay on your back of stomach

Back, or your side, whichever is most comfortable for YOU.

      2. do you breath through you nose or mouth

Debateable. I breathe through my nose.

      3. where do you put your hands

You can keep them by your sides but it really does not matter as long as they are not constricting you or in an uncomfortable position.

      4. what position do you put your feet in

Wear socks, it helps. Keep your feet as they are relaxed...you need not try and force them into a certain position.

      5. what position do you put your head in

I lay my head to the side.

      6. do you listen to music

      No.

      7. what other things do you do

      I take Nike's advice.
Things are not as they seem

      hello

i think it is important to be comfortable, as any discomfort gets bigger and bigger = mega distraction.
but for me the most important aspect of the sleeping position is to go back to sleep in the exact same position i woke up in.

this is important for DEILD, as for some reason when i get back into the sleeping position i woke up in, i start to remember my dreams i just had + i feel sleepyu very quickly

      1. On my side. If I lay on my back, my neck gets sensitive (it's sensitive, so I like always need my shirt to be on my neck).

      2. I try to breath through my nose. I usually don't because it's hard to breath through it (I guess it's mucus or something).

      3. On my sides or under my pillow (when laying on my side).

      4. Any position that feels comfortable.

      5. Any position that feels comfortable.

      6. Yes. It helps increase my dream recall.

      7. Meditating.
