      Hypnogonics Sounds?

I've only had hypnogonic images once (I did a W.I.L.D), and I've only ever heard it used in that context. I asked this question 2 or 3 years ago and didn't get any confirmations from anyone else that this had happened to them. Basically, when I get ready to go to sleep (Not necassarily on the verge of sleep either, for example I layed down for a nap just 10 minutes ago and that's what prompted me to write this again) sometimes I will hear things. That's it! As I said earlier the only way I can describe it is that it must operate in a similar method as hypnogonics only it's with sound. The sounds are also quite vivid. In that earlier reference to the nap I was going to take, I could've sworn (By where the sound was coming from, what it sounded like e.t.c.) that I was laying on the couch in my grandparents (now deceased) home and heard my grandfather clear his throat in his office!

      Looking forward to your responses,
      -Time.

Yes, I believe you can experience any sort of sensory phenomena during hypnagogia -- in fact I think sounds are more common than images, for me.

I notice audio hypnogogia a lot, even when I'm just going to bed (not WILDing).

I hear voices almost every time I WILD. They can be entire conversations, commercials, news reports. They often evolve into dream scenes, and help carry me into the dream.

I've heard other people mention that they hear loud sounds, like screeching metal, screams, or loud bangs. I'm just glad I don't get anything so startling

I hear voices when I go to bed all the time. Sometimes they can jerk me awake. If I have a song in my head, I often hear it play out loud when I try to sleep

Well, I recently(yesterday) had some hypnogonic sounds so it seems after using the autosuggestion method. I heard sounds like sirens which got pretty loud, but, it seems sounds are more common than images

Yeah, I commonly hear hypnogogic voices before falling asleep. Sometimes they are full sentences said in a voice of someone I know.

A few times I've even noticed tastes.

Ah! This could explain last night, when during a WILD attempt I heard faint orchestral music. At first I dismissed it, thinking my sister had the TV turned on, but I asked her and she said she hadn't. Another clue that I am closer to my goal. Thanks for making the topic, and everyone replying. This was really encouraging!

I hear hypnogonics Sounds pretty much every night. It's usually music.

Its annoying when its a sudden loud sound and it scares the crap out of me.

The one I get the most often is the sound of a book or similar heavy object being dropped on the floor. Anyone whos dropped a book onto a hard surface floor knows how loud it can be. It's pretty startling sometimes. Nodding off..... .... ...BAM!

I hear noises all the time, nearly every night when I'm trying to sleep.

ranges from conversation to trumpets, anything.

Most of the time its just like a room full of people trying to talk over eachother
When I was in high school I was very ambitious, I wanted to be the Class President but I missed out by only about 3 votes.

So they made me the Class Secretary of Defence.

Same here, I experienced those sounds many times . They often make me drift off to normal dream because they distract me a lot.

i get the same thing though its usually only a few words or someone humming a tune. this reminds me when i was younger i remember if i though about any word (not internally pronouncing it just thinking of the word if you know what i mean) i could make myself hear it. like hwne you play music back to yourself in your head. i havent tried anything similar lately im more focused on achieving a voluntary WILD.

in refrences to that, that reminds me off a time my cuzin was on the top bunk and me and his friend were sharing the bunk below and my cuzin mubled, "put water on the fire to make it grow bigger" and at that point me and his friend(still awake cuz my cuz falls asleep way fast) were like "joey WTF?" he was like what what did i say and we told and he was like "oh o ok yeah WTF!?" and last time he was at my house i heard him have like a whole conversation with or about a mr.wilson or somtin like that i didnt wake him up 4 a while i just listened then told him it all when the convo was done and i woke him up haha so it kinda shows that we both make and apparently hear sounds in our sleep

I Wilded this morning. As I passed through SP I heard the most hideous screaming.
I've read people talking about it, but this was the first time Ive experienced it.
If I wasn't expecting it (at some point) it would have scared the life out of me.
