The Sound of Silence for WILDing?

A couple of hours ago I was trying to WILD. And failing. But that's not the point.

Anyways, after awhile I heard a sort of high-pitched, soft humming noise (I was also halfway into SP). When I focused on it, it got louder, and when I stopped listening to it it got softer. I kept waiting for it to sort of whoosh, then go into the weird high-low-high-low-high-low pitched sound that I've heard both times I got close to a WILD.

It's not an auditory HH; I can hear it any time it's quiet, the quieter the better. I would say I can even hear it now, but it might just be the computer running. I read somewhere on this forum that it's the central nervous system working.

Does anyone know if it can be used to initiate a WILD? If so, then how? I tried focusing on it and willing it to get louder (which worked to a certain degree) and ignoring it. Neither way got me very far... I'm not the only one who hears this, am I?

Well firstly ask yourself how old am---Oh wait you're 15!? of course you'll hear high-pitched noises, teenagers since their ears haven't been exposed to noise for as long a time as adults, i think, and since they're younger they can hear higher-pitched noises than most adults. And im pretty sure you can tell whether a TV is on or not, I can too. Don't worry it's pretty common, just thank yourself you don't have it as a condition. ie: Tinnitus.

Tinnitus can be caused by high blood pressure, noise trauma (guns, rock concerts, jets), aspirin or nipride overdose just to name a few.

Yes i have tried to use it once, though unrealistic it was. Seriously, you're not gonna get anywhere by doing that, trust me.

      I understand what you mean.
It's this with me too, like there's constant ringing, but I can't hear it unless I focus on it, and it's much louder if there's quiet when I do listen for it.
I don't actually have a clue what it is, but it doesn't bother me so much.

As for entering dreams with it, I find that focusing on it usually drags my awareness all over the place, and often causes me to hear music or sounds as if they're really happening. I would assume it's to do with the hypnagogic stage.

Of course the divided attention may just be with me, perhaps you can focus in on it better than I can. It is extremely effective with losing track of the body, and also all other senses depending on how far you go, so it could be very helpful from that side of things.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

So one "doesn't work" and one "might work for you but it didn't for me." Not looking too promising... but then again, I'm a bit of a strange person. ;P

And yeah, I can hear when the TV's on. I've heard that adults can't hear that ringing, double-pitched noise, like when someone screams. I'm assuming that's the same thing.

Except hearing things. At least for me.
