Make sure that you aren't moving too much when you first wake up. And favor waking naturally to waking by an alarm clock if you can. And when you wake up, if you don't remember anything at all I've heard that turning on different sides can help because you remember best if you are on the side you were dreaming on. And also, when I don't remember a dream and I have time, i'll go back to sleep and I usually wake up remembering the new dream and the one before.

More important that trivial variables such as your last meal, is the duration and quality of sleep, along with the stability of your sleep schedule.

Have you been getting up/going to bed at the same time (around twenty minutes) every night?
Have you been getting at least 7 hours?
Have you been taking any depressants (alcohol, sleeping pills)?

If your are having an actual LD tell yourself while in the LD to remember. IF there is incredible detail in your LD there is a good chance you will not remember the detail (like veins on a tree leaf) but just remember that there WAS detail. Its a trick I learned long ago.
