Mirrors - blurry or misshaped image?

They kinda scare me. A site told me your image will just be blurry while a different site said that your image may become creepy or odd and may even scare you which cause you to wake up. I know stuff like this is not the same for everyone. Someone may always have four out of five fingers (yes, I count that as a finger) in dreams while others may see everything in perfect detail and must use a different RC when that one don't work.

I so far only have one lucid dream (which I killed myself in to wake myself up for better recall) and it seem like I don't really have any need to fear as a dream can be treated as a video game when dieing. I may make looking in a mirror every morning a RC but so far to my knowledge I not sure if I will get scare of the image and wake myself up or become lucid and don't care about it.

Based on your dreams, how did the mirrors seem? I don't want to be scare of looking in mirrors in dreams and I hoping that you guys can help me to get me (and my brain) past this small fear which could end up being a helpful RC.

I never did, but I never heard of that being a reliable RC. THe better ones are the ones more discussed, such as the 'looking at hands' one and the breathing one. Others may work, but I wouldn't try them in real life at the risk of them now working for you in your dreams.

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

I do the hand one where I take a close look at it and sometimes just for the heck of my hand being in front of my face I count the fingers just be to safe.

Looking at my hand was the one that cause me to have my first lucid dream which is not really that odd. While I at school waiting i just take a quick look at my hand. It was something fast and simple to do without looking like a fool.

I may start doing that breathing one as it can be done quickly but I will only do that one at home or if something odd happen at school.

i don't think that it is that bad. just remember that you are in control of your dream. I have done it and it wasn't really scary, but half my face was squished down flat.

I've looked in a mirror before in a nonL dream. I don't know if that would make a diff. or not, but when I looked my image was clear and everything, but the top of my body looked like my cat. But then I wiped (how do I say that?) and I looked at my image and it was perfectly normal-and clear. And yet, I didn't become L! Ugh!

I don't like to use mirrors for RCs. Almost all of my dreams occur in places where a mirror shouldn't exist, most often outdoors. Most of the time when I look at myself in a dream, things are disproportionally sized, like my fingers are too short in comparison to my palms, etc.

And legonut, your avvie hurts my eyes.

True, you don't see mirrors that much compare to something like your hand. I guess I won't make it my RC.

Looking like a cat would be so odd that you would think you would become lucid but sometimes that happen based on what I heard on this forum.

Maybe you could start wearing a watch, so it'll show up in your dream. I wear mine all of the time and it's a RC I can use at any time. I rarely use it though

I have also looked in mirrors. One particular time, I was quite attractive. More attractive than usual. Oh wait a minute...you mean looking in mirrors in dreams! Oh, okay. Well there was this one particular time I looked in a mirror in my dream and I was quite attractive...more attractive than usual!

I think you'll experience what ever your mind is ready to experience. Don't worry about what others say.

When I'm not lucid and I look in a mirror, things are normal, but if I look in a mirror while lucid, then I look distorted (like the photos from the movie The Ring) and I automatically get a sense of fear even though I expect it. So, yeah, I wouldn't use it as an RC.

That almost the same as what I gotten from a site. Yea, I won't use it. My mind is pretty good when fighting my fears but it not best to push my luck. If I do happen to see a mirror I may take a peek at it while reminding myself it just a mirror in a dream.

There one item I always wanted and lucidreamsavy brought it up. I heard that some guy have his watch set up to beep every hour which remind him to do a quick RC. I want a digital watch which beep every hour and have small text under it. The digital + text + hand = three RC right there and the beeping will remind me to do them. lol That will be like the perfect gift for me.

Mirrors are fine for me..I, for some reason, am drawn to them in dreams. The last half lucid I had I got up and walked to the washroom and just stared at myself in the mirror..perfect reflection..the only thing I find is that I am not looking directly at myself..its slightly off to the side for some reason..but still I am reflected perfectly clear and accurate (to what I remember)

I have another great RC idea. I did this last night. It's a fun one too! Once I questioned myself to see if I was dreaming, I didn't feel like looking at the nearby clock to do it, because all of the DC near me would be staring at me. So, I involved the DCs and made them touch their noses, head, and run to the other side of the room, like simon says, only I didn't say simon. Since everyone did what I told them to, I beleived I was dreaming. This RC can work as long as their are DCs around and they listen to you.

Not really something you can do in real life if you sleep alone. The fact that there was people in my room would make me question the fact if I was dreaming or not. Only my bro go into my room which is rare.

I never *ever* try to look in mirrors or even water reflections in Dreams.

They tend to have some weird affect that scares the absolute crap out of me and wake me up. I don't even remember what I look like in them : /

Blurry AND creepy AND odd for me. You hit the nail on the head. For me. Nothing scary though. Maybe because in real life I really DO look blurry and creepy and odd.
And, interesting concept .. killing yourself in a LD to wake up. What did you do? Jump off a building? Provoke a grizzly? Set yourself on fire. Hold your breath until you had no more breath to hold. Slice your own head off. Call Chuck Norris a fool?

lol at the last one. I may try that next time.

I jump off a cliff into a icy lake. I heard waking yourself up can give a better chance of recall but I did not want to do it the boring way by opening my eyes. So I jump.

Actually I do use mirror reflections as an RC. Hands don't work, because they're perfectly normal in my dreams. Furthermore I dream of mirror reflections regularly (Lucid and nonLucid).
My mirror-reflection in a dream is usually normal. Sometimes something might've changed, like my hair is longer, or different colour eyes. Nothing scary.

I think any RC you believe is reliable is therefore a reliable RC.

most of the time, there are black circle scab looking things on my face. They're usually just on the right side of my face. my hair has streaks of gold in it, which actually looks pretty good, aha. my teeth are usually super white, but sometimes they fall out, but only one or two teeth. other than that, everything else is normal.

My mirror image looks almost normal but it has some flaws.
