when starting to Lucid Dream, it's best to try as many techniques as you can and as many variations of those techniques. Never just do what the tutorials tell you. You need to modify each technique to fit the way you sleep. (for example, if a tutorial tells you to stay awake during WBTB for 15 minutes, don't do it if you know you won't be able to fall back asleep. some tutorials say that all you have to do is get out of bed, even for only a little while, but I never get out of bed for WBTB otherwise I can't get back to sleep)

you also need to stick with the technique for a while. Don't try it once and give up because you didn't get a lucid dream the first time. You might spend a week getting nowhere, and then out of the blue it will work for you because you just finally got the hang of it. Also, if you feel like you're making progress, keep trying until you really feel that you need to move on.

Patience is the hardest part of LDing, but probably the most important. It took me months and months to get my first lucid dream. I got so unbelievably frustrated. But once I found a few techniques that worked for me, it came a lot easier. And they were techniques that I had tried many times before. I just didn't really get the hang of it until I had practiced.

and writing in your dream journal is also a vital part of lucid dreaming. It's surprising how important it can be, even when you don't think it is. My recall is really good, I can remember 2-3 dreams upon awakening, but if I don't write them down it doesn't do me any good at all. Just because writing is good for recall doesn't mean that's its only use.

sorry that was so long, but it's some important info. Good luck!
